Trying to install W10(2004) on new SSD

Question

Hi,

Just got a new ssd from Samsung (970 EVO 500gb) and have some issues with the install of W10 (2004)

- created a stick with the media-creation-tool from Microsoft

- reset the bios & disabled CSM (heard that it must be done)

- copied files from stick (on first attemp of install) & restart.. boot from Samsung SSD 970 EVO and.. got those errors. What I'm doing wrong and how can I continue?

- that boot manager runs W10 from the usb stick (I quess).

Thanks for any solution!

"copied files from stick (on first attemp of install)"

For clarification....you didn't just copy the installation files from the USB drive onto the new SSD and then try to boot?  You booted with the USB drive, it started installing and then on a reboot...you got that error...right?

Just clarifying.  :)

Had the same question while reading that.

Good to see you fixed it. What was the issue?

Temp is just fine.

The Samsung NVMe drives do not support RAPID...and you wouldn't need it anyway. :)

Part in red didn't need to be done, secure boot is all that needed to be turned off

well.. recreated the stick with the media-creation-tool, reset the BIOS and install, after first restart unplugged the usb stick and continue installation..all seems ok. :)

One more question now..after all my software installed had a look in msconfig and saw it as "selective startup"..shoudn't be as normal? if I set it to..normal, after restart goes back to..selective. why and how could be solved? Thanks!

What did you use to create the USB stick?

I use RUFUS (http://rufus.ie) for two reasons:

1.  It can create sticks that support MBR or GPT - it can even create MBR-supporting USB sticks on UEFI-based hardware (I have mixed hardware).

2.  It is - easily - the fastest USB-boot-stick-creating software I have used.

In addition, there is a *portable* version of RUFUS available.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
