@lazarus

You know, that picture has been included in some other VS's. I cant remember the real name, but ive seen alot of names for it. Here's a few:

"Another Bliss"

"Blackcomb"

"Bliss 2"

Go to themexp.org and search there. Im sure that you will find it there, but I cant remeber exactly what its real name is sorry!

Now Im about to do another exam ( :angry: ) but before I started It I though id come in here and see what's goin on.

Ive noticed a few people have found it a bit daunting when installing all of the things for the Visual Style. Seeing as we're getting more and more things to include, I thought that I might help people out a bit by doing two things.

1. We make 2 archives: a noremal one, and a self-extracting one with options on what to extract.

2. Since even the more experienced people find it annoying changing every aspect of their VS setup each time they get a new one, I reckon I can make a few registry files to automatically set every single part of the theme. VS, cursors, Bootscreen, Logon, icons, wallpaper, samurize, (if we get them, sounds)... everything including the kitchen sink! The best part of that is I can manually set paths for the bootscreen and logon so you dont need to replace the originals! Of course, I'll make another one to restore to default, and you d need to know that playing with the registry can be aggrivating a t times, and you should always be careful... But hey, Im a nice guy, I though I might try and help out a bit! :p

@OldeCrow

Have you made log off and shutdown dialogs to go with your logon screen?

I love the logon BTW, its so l33t and sl33k. :drool: :ninja:

I certainly can :)

Ill work on logoff shutdown dialogs tommorow and see what i can come up with :D

If you or Xeon can come up with a good set of buttons for it

"switch user" "logoff" "standby" "turnoff" "restart"

something like the ones on the startpanel maybe ?

i can use the two different buttons that are in the start panel now but it would be nice to have unique buttons for each and im not very good at making buttons :D

registry files would be a really nice touch to the theme archive dazza

yes it would !

You can set the default msstyle and theme in the registry to LunaVX and then the scrollbars in the logon will come from LunaVX instead of default luna.

I know it would be easier to just put the scrollbars in the logon but i dont like to reinvent the wheel :)

actually a tight little application that would let you select the windows default theme and msstyle would be pretty slick for that .. then you could change it to whatever style you want to use and the scrollbars in the logon would always match your style ;)

its obviosly a personal mod of LunaVX

but all i did was take the first three states of the taskbar buttons and make a blank startbutton image out of them and then i reset the startbutton geometry so the normal flag and text would show

i think i had to change the startbutton text too

Well guys, Ive finished all of my exams, and to celebrate, I decided to toy around with LunaVX for a while (by a while I mean 8 hours straight :blink: I need caffeine :sleep: ) (BTW I didnt JUST work on VX, I went out first :p).

Its funny, but for a VS tha'ts supposed to be 100% bug-free (as stated my me), I always manage to find SOMETHING to do... ;)

Anyhoo, I'll have all of my personal tests and whatnot done by tomorrow.

I might list some major changes I made so you can imagine what VX is like and drool for a while

? I made a Luna VX Screensaver! Dont get too excited, but it fits the VX theme to a tee rather than the default screensaver.

? They're not completely done yet, but Im making some cursors too. While i make them, I reccommend Dazzla's port of the BlueCurve Cursors, theyre awesome for this VS!

? I re-did my shellstyle. All the colours are different, and work seamlessly (I hope, still to test all of them) with all of the new colour tweaks I made in the VS.

? Major colour changes in the VS include:

? the window colour (not pure white anymore, a tint of blue)

? BALLON, TOOLIP, INFO and STATUS messages are no longer that annoying and iritating yellow colour! rejoice&:woot::woot:

? Combo, Spin, List and Text Boxes have all been completely redone. I gotta say these have driven me insane trying to get the no button when disabled thing to display the right colours... so i gave:rolleyes:lleyes: ) and made a nice silver disabled button. What's more, i put this silver button on the scroll arrows as well for consistency, and it really look quite sl33k

I've actually done a fair bit more than what I usually do when I update a theme, including making a (perfect) .theme file, some .reg files to apply the new screensaver and the wallpaper at the logon screen (and if someone can give me the correct registry key, I can add cursors to the logon screen too)...

The list just goes on for a bit more...

:drool::drool:

so check back on the weekend, and There's a good chance the next update will be ready to download!

See you all soon!

@Xeon,

Im on trillian a hell of alot now Xeon, but youre never online. EVER!

(I stand corr:pted. :p Trust you to come online when I finish the me:rolleyes:lleyes: )

Hey, i really havent done that much :p

The biggest change you'll see is the shellstyle no doubt, and i think its pretty sweet. Still, I reckon I can make it better still.

And sapphyre, I talked to Xeon last night and sent him the theme, but I guess he isnt gonna update until monday. Come to think of it, He told me that when i sent the VS to him :happy:

Oh BTW, if you talk to him tell him I mixed up a few things in my shellstyle and i'll email him a better one before monday.

Cheers!

Oh, and thanks DJ_souless! I'll look into is as soon as I get home.

Is that the one for the logon screen though? I would think that's just for the person logged in, and in my theme file I put some cursor links for that...

BTW when VX gets updated if you create a folder called "Cursors" in the LunaVX folder and put some cursors in there, when you apply the theme it'll apply the cursors too!

(Just make sure that the cursors are the same name as the ones in the theme file... open it with notepad to check, but most cursors these days seem to follow a standard naming format :p)

If u want ppl to have cursors and stuff so that it can be installed simply by a reg, just set into a default directory on your computer (which ppl are gonna extract to like :example: C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\LunaVX\Cursors) Set it all up on your computer and it will saved into the default Directory in the reg for Cusor Schemes, Then export it. Pretty Simple

The directory where schemes are stored which u export are here

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Cursors\Schemes

For the logon, you replace the directory the logon.exe. Look for the name UIhost.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

It's Pretty Simple really. just select both and click Export. and when someone

installs the reg. they have exactly the same as u! Simple.

I've only just used this for the first time :blush: and it's a quality theme! I've been on Windows Classic for ages but this has got me off it :| one request if I may though :whistle: any chance of the bundled wallpaper in a higher res? Like 1600 x 1200 :whistle: and possibly an option without the windows flag and text? :whistle:

Can't fault the theme, fantastic.

Yeah I too wouldnt mind seeing a higher res pic too, possibly as a .bmp too. If its a bmp, not only do you not lose quality, but you can set it as the background pic at the logon (ive tried referencing .jpg's, but the system actually wants to convert the image to a .bmp before it will apply it, so if you make a direct reference to a .jpg file the background is just black)

And thanks again DJ! Youre making this easier for me each time I come back online.

And thanks for the kind words Dazzla! Im sure Xeon will be grateful too. :happy:

    • Microsoft making much needed change to Windows 11, 10 Patch Tuesday security updates by Sayan Sen Recently, Microsoft delivered its latest Defender patches for Windows 11 ISOs. These definitions are released from time to time alongside the general security updates available during Patch Tuesday. Speaking of Defender, the company has now announced another important change that affects how security updates are delivered to enterprise devices running Windows. According to a recent announcement, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's endpoint detection and response (EDR) updates will no longer be bundled with the monthly Windows security updates or Patch Tuesdays. Instead the company is shifting delivery of these updates to Microsoft Update, bringing EDR servicing in line with several other Microsoft Defender components. If you recall, Microsoft last year moved PowerShell updates to Microsoft Update (MU) as well since it provides automatic updates for Microsoft products and services. Thus the move is intended to allow Microsoft to deliver EDR improvements and security enhancements independently of the OS's regular monthly update cycle; this should enable faster deployment of protection updates without requiring organizations to wait for the next Patch release. For those unfamiliar, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's EDR capabilities are designed to help organizations detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats across managed devices. Keeping these components updated is critical for maintaining protection against evolving attack techniques. The rollout has already began for Windows 10 devices in late May 2026 (last month) and Microsoft says it will gradually expand support to Windows 11 and the remaining supported Windows versions over the coming months. The company expects deployment across Windows 10 and Windows 11 to be completed by fall 2026 or around Q3 of this year. Once the transition is complete, EDR updates will be delivered through Microsoft Update using KB5005292, provided the required prerequisite updates have already been installed. Microsoft is also introducing a new Defender Update Service as part of the change. Following installation of the first update, devices will automatically create a new directory located at %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Microsoft Defender\Defender Update. Microsoft notes that restarts may occasionally be necessary in case of "rare" failure scenarios. For most organizations, the tech giant says no action will be required as long as Microsoft Update is already permitted within their update management strategy. Admins who rely on manually deployed update packages, however, will need to adjust their processes to ensure the new Defender update package is included. Microsoft also recommends reviewing internal documentation and notifying helpdesk and security operations teams about the updated delivery mechanism to avoid confusion during the transition. As a prerequisite, the tech giant notes that systems must be running Sense version 10.8798.25857.1000 or later and have one of the following Windows updates (or later) installed: Win11 24H2 KB5062660 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win11 23H2 KB5062663 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win11 22H2 KB5062663 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win10 22H2 KB5062649 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win10 1809 KB5063877 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) Server 2019 KB5063877 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) Server 2022 KB5063880 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) Server 2025 KB5063878 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) As always, organizations should verify that their update policies align with the new servicing approach before the broader rollout reaches all supported Windows platforms later this year. In case of major problems, the EDR update can be rolled back to the inbox version stored in %ProgramFiles%\\Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) using: MpCmdRun.exe -RevertMde -Product Edr -ToVersion Inbox For those who have access to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center portal, you can view the message here under ID MC1381119.
    • My problem with these smart scopes is that IMO they're not really an entrance into astronomy, they're an entrance to looking at pretty(ish) pictures that you take by essentially pressing a button and letting the scope do the work. I still maintain that getting some binoculars or a solid dedicated telescope (which doesn't have to mean expensive) and actually spending time learning the night sky and using a telescope is a much better way to actually learn. But, granted, the learning curve is a bit steeper (as it tends to be).
    • I never played Crazy Taxi before, but this looks like a fun game!
    • The perception of Microsoft Edge is unfortunate as it's a world class browser. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best browser I've ever used with its feature set, speed, reliability and advanced security. Running the extension Ublock Origin is a must though to deal with advertising and trackers.
