So $899 for a PS5 Pro with 2TB that can play all the most popular MP games (Fornight, BF6, Call of Duty etc, etc, etc) or this console $1428 with 2TB and and cant play those games and others and is locked to 1080p right now. DOA. -

Just like the Steam Deck, it will get some hype then die down fast. It can't play the most popular MP games because Linux and anti-cheat software do not play nice with each other. -

Yeah, it isn't a good deal, especially for the specs, but there are always people that 1) have money to burn that will buy it, 2) people that will buy it just to try it, mid-level specs for the price or not, and/or 3) people that will buy it because they have no idea how high the price is for what they are getting. So, who knows, it might still sell better than it should.
