Keyboard volume up key doesn't work on my profile but does on my wife's

Recommended Posts

I'm currently using a Logitech MX Keys keyboard but I've also tried a different non Logitech keyboard.

When I'm in my Windows profile I can't hold the fn key then press the volume up key to increase the volume. Holding the fn key and pressing the volume down works though.

I noticed my wife was logged into her profile yesterday and she was able to control the volume correctly using the keyboard that doesn't work correctly in my profile.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work in my profile but does in hers. The Logitech keyboard software it installed globally.

Running Windows 11.

Sorry it has taken so long to respond to this topic, I have had a think about it and I think the only reason holding FN and volume key down works, but volume key up doesn't, is because something else is mapped to it (but obviously not working).

I used to have Logitech keyboard & mouse software installed when I had my Logitech K800 / MX Master desktop (to disable caps lock key and Start button on gaming profile) but I can't remember if there was a setting to reset everything to default.

As an example, I use SnagIt and I set the PRT SC key to capture manually, but if I install or enable the OneDrive sync, that overrides the mapped key. Programs do that sometimes.

There was nothing I could find in the Windows 11 keyboard settings, unless you have a keyboard properties tab (Search Keyboard from Windows 11 search on taskbar, then open the Keyboard Control Panel result). Sometimes drivers install custom properties pages to set preferences for multimedia keys, enable or disable FN key etc.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
