Paint what?  You let those colors fly yourself...  Everybody in this discussion was civil and talking on general terms until you jumped in and started rambling about the right.   YOU made this red vs blue...  You want to see pathetic, go re-read your profanity filled rager comments...  Take your misery elsewhere.

"Your mindset is just as bad the nutsos on the right honestly. "
"If that’s what you want to call it, sure. It’s the same ###### narrative the right has been pushing for years, and before that it was about main stream media. I don’t watch cable news, but I was stuck watching a week of Tucker recently and it’s mind numbing. It’s a ###### joke at this point."

We can take a dive into the Trump threads if we need to pull more examples of your hot takes...

Nice gas lighting. You made this a red/blue discussion when you literally said "Fact checking" is less about facts and more about blue vs red ideology."

I’ve been talking about the validity of fact checkers and actual facts. You’re the one that shoehorned red/blue into it and centered their discussion around it, resulting in responses discussing them. That’s how conversations work. Props for managing to even call me a leftist. How cliche.

Not to mention the mindset quote you're referring to was a reply to someone bashing the right. There's that cherry picking you're so apt to reference. lmao.

Sure dive into the Trump threads, be sure to dive into those Biden ones and even Obama ones, you'll see I'm plenty critical of everyone.

Thanks for the hot take, but it wasn't the flex you thought it'd be.

What. A. Joke.

As much as I like Star Trek, I've never looked up her or anyone else's account (on the show) on twitter or the wider web. But it is funny to hear those who support "free speech" criticizing her because she used her freedom of choice.

They're not the same things mate.

One means a massive logistical challenge while the other means sitting in front of your internet device for five minutes.

Of course moving country was an empty threat but some will leave Twitter though I suspect they will be back once the dust has settled.

They are the same thing in the sense that you are saying I don't like something therefore I'm doing something else and publicly announcing it to try to get the attention that I want from it... the response action is irrelevant, the causation is the relevant part

What's ironic is Jan 6 is literally a byproduct of Twitter. Along with the mathematically impossible claim that the election was stolen. Trump stoked the flames for years with falsehoods, and after the election riled these nutsos on Twitter up until they were breaking down the doors.

Eh, right wingers don't care about facts.

I would say it's the opposite in general. because it's a fact that gas prices roughly double since Dementia Joe took over which speaks volumes (basically they literally more than doubled in my area in less than 1.5 years (counting from Dementia Joe's peak gas prices)). like I always say if you screw with a persons basic survival it's going to upset a boatload of people regardless of which side of the political field you are on and this is exactly what the left is doing right now.

if you count Dementia Joe's height of gas prices in my area to Trump's best that's roughly a $3.34 difference (about $5.19 vs about $1.85). even more commonly in my area gas prices under Trump were roughly $2.25-2.50 and even currently under Dementia Joe they are still in the high $3.xx range and this is after things came down quite a bit vs not all that long ago. this has a real world effect on the common persons survival and this is just ONE thing not to mention general inflation etc.

it's impossible to paint conservatives as the bad guys when the left is hell-bent on ruining the country as inflation/gas prices alone speak volumes (not to mention open borders as you can't continue to let millions flood the country or you won't have a country long term). it's obvious Trump is the good guy for any rational person at this point in time who's not blinded by the 'orange man bad' mentality.

that's why the mid-terms should be a shoe-in for the pro-USA types (i.e. conservatives) along with Trump in 2024, unless of course the left cheats like hell like they did in Nov 2020 (see '2000 mules').

basically the left is anti-God/oil/guns. a bad position to take in the long term, but they can't see it. those who still vote for the left are what many corrupt people in positions of power on the left would call 'useful idiots' as they keep voting for the people who are destroying society with high crime/gas prices/inflation/open borders etc. you know, issues that actually effect the common person unlike the left who's obsessed with BS that does not.

p.s. hell, just given the fact some on the left question basic male/female nature shows you disconnected with reality they are and letting biological males compete in female sports as it's common sense that will ruin female sports since males are stronger/faster (just given this fact shows you these people are totally insane). it's amazing how far the left has declined in such a short period of time as stuff like this used to go without saying not long ago for both sides.

Lost me in the first sentence due to the shear stupidity of just that one sentence alone.

Y’all have been crying Parkinson’s dementia etc for democratic candidates for years. But for you guys, you only pretend to care about sick people and due to the natural hatred that fuels everything conservative you are all ok with the horrible things you all do but would cry incessantly if you got it in return.

Presidents have nothing to do with gas prices. Since the MAGA party loves oil companies and takes huge bribes from them, maybe ask them to ask OPEC for a break.

Lastly fact checkers aren’t dumping on left wingers for blatant and obvious lies being said because they know their idiot base would listen.  We don’t operate in lies or hate like you all do. You are a sickness.

that’s how how much BS was in just one sentence. I won’t read the rest of it because I know it’s all made Alex Jones type crap that only the worst people on earth believe. And I truly believe you are one of that crowd because you type paragraphs of it and never bother once to look at the facts. If you are in any tech field or anything of importance I’d fire you instantly.

Gas prices Feb 2020: 2.466
Gas prices Oct 2022: 3.742
1.5 times higher. It's as close to double as it is to be the same.

If you're comparing gas prices to a time during the pandemic then you're a child and not worth talking to.

I'm sure you're perfectly fine with every republican voting against the bill to lower gas prices.  You're all childish hypocrites.

I know we're getting off-topic... but real quick...

What is the relationship between the price we pay at the gas pump... and the Executive Branch of the US Government?

I've always wondered about this...

🤔

This from Wil Weaton (@wilw) on counter.social

I've been on Twitter since the beginning, and I've watched it turn into a cesspool of hate, propaganda, abuse, and bigotry. They can save it, but their failed leadership refuses to act. So I've looked for lots of alternatives, and counter.social is the first one I'm actually optimistic about. Thank you, @th3j35t3r for building this.

You cant directly link to a post unless the person allows it. I have been a member of counter.social since April and its nice. I have seen a bot.

Personally I am going to keep using twitter till it shuts down, censors too much (saudi arabia is a major investor) or just get tired of it.

It doesn't matter how much you try and explain it to them, they won't process it. Biden has limited options, and when he does use one of those limited options, such as releasing supplies from the strategic reserves, he's labeled as using it for political gain... TheCrip probably has a pack of I Did That stickers at the ready in his glove compartment, gotta be careful though, gas prices right now are comparable to the Trump days, can't give Biden credit if prices keep going down, now can we. lol

It takes a calamity to crash gas prices. In 2009 it was the complete collapse of economy and a total recession, and in 2020 it was a complete collapse of the gas market because nobody was driving while remote and locked down. They were practically giving it away back then. Trying to compare prices now to 2020, or even 2009, shows these types of people have no actual knowledge of the market, nor the nonsense they keep on spewing. It's pathetic.

Did you know you can use magic markers (they really aren’t ‘magic’ so you know) or some glue and glitter to decorate your tinfoil hat?

Getting back to Marina Sirtis 😍 I met and chatted with her at a sci-fi convention in 1988, when TNG was still pretty new, and she was not only beautiful but intelligent as well, and easy to converse with. I took several photos of her (no charge!), but when she got up from behind the table she was sitting behind in a near-empty hall, her lovely legs came into view, prompting me to take a few more photos (with her permission!)...until I realized that I had already taken the last photo on my last roll of film! What a shame!

An encounter that was both wonderful and depressing, the lesson being *always carry extra film and batteries*! 🥺

I'll quote what a friend of mine has been saying for a while; "Social media is destroying society".

Twitter, Facebook, whatever... all trash. Amplifies all the worst parts of our society.

Nothing has changed on Twitter other than the owner as of right now.  I don't know why you would quit right now unless your reason was you hate Elon Musk?  There is no policy that has changed yet one way or the other, so anyone saying they don't like the new platform is full of it and quitting for attention.   If you wait a few months and then make your decision, it would make more sense to me.

    • And Microsoft got walloped on here for what they were charging for the new Surface book. Not looking as bad now. This was inevitable as they have to maintain those Apple margins.
    • Now 8GB of ram looks even worse in the Neo. I'm so happy I purchased 128GB of DDR 4 when I did.... paid $174. Upgraded my parents laptop to 32GB around the same time for $48. Luckily I have a TON of spare laptops. So i'm good on laptops for a while. I also have a lot of desktops too that I could use if i had to. Lets just hope nothing happens to my main 4 monitor couch workstation.
    • I will keep my current devices for several years... no planning in upgrading until these devices stop working. Too pricey.
    • Apple raises MacBook and iPad prices as memory costs surge by Karthik Mudaliar Apple has raised the U.S. prices of several MacBook and iPad models, including the MacBook Neo, which it launched for $599 less than four months ago. The company’s cheapest laptop now starts at $699, while some MacBook Pro configurations have increased by $300. The changes affect the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. Apple has not changed the hardware or storage included with these models, so customers are simply paying more for the same configurations. Here is how the new US pricing compares with the previous starting prices: Product Previous price New price Increase MacBook Neo $599 $699 $100 13-inch MacBook Air, 512GB $1,099 $1,299 $200 14-inch MacBook Pro, 1TB $1,699 $1,999 $300 16-inch MacBook Pro $2,699 $2,999 $300 11-inch iPad Air, 128GB $599 $749 $150 13-inch iPad Air, 128GB $799 $949 $150 11-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $999 $1,199 $200 13-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $1,299 $1,499 $200 The updated prices are already appearing on Apple’s U.S. online store. The MacBook Neo increase will probably attract the most attention. Apple introduced the laptop in March for $599, pitching it as a more affordable Mac for students and buyers considering Windows laptops or Chromebooks. It uses an A18 Pro processor and originally undercut Dell’s new $699 XPS 13 by $100. Following the increase, the two laptops now have the same starting price. The M5 MacBook Air has also lost the price Apple promoted when it launched in March. The 13-inch model arrived with 512GB of storage for $1,099, while Apple’s store now lists the MacBook Air range as starting at $1,299. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip and 1TB of storage has gone from $1,699 to $1,999. Apple has made similar changes to its iPads. The recently released M4 iPad Air, which launched at the same $599 starting price as its predecessor, now starts at $749 for the 11-inch version. The 13-inch version has risen from $799 to $949. The iPad Pro increases are larger in dollar terms. Apple’s 11-inch M5 iPad Pro now starts at $1,199, up from $999, while the 13-inch version has moved from $1,299 to $1,499. Both base models still include 256GB of storage. Apple blamed the increases on the rapidly rising cost of DRAM and NAND flash, which provide system memory and device storage. The company told Reuters that it had tried to shield customers from the increases but could no longer absorb them. “We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly,” Apple said. Tim Cook had already warned that price increases were coming. Cook said Apple’s existing component inventory had softened the immediate impact, but that higher memory costs would increasingly affect the company after the June quarter. Much of the pressure comes from the construction of AI data centers. Memory manufacturers are directing more production toward high-margin server products, leaving PC, tablet, and smartphone makers competing for the remaining supply. Apple has not said whether the new prices are temporary or whether further increases are planned. For now, the changes show that even Apple’s purchasing power has not been enough to keep the AI-driven memory shortage away from consumer devices.
