When has Trump ever been honest about anything?  It's ridiculous to think he won't come back for the attention he craves.

As for force fed? What?  Every credible news outlet is quoting elon himself and has insider sources.  That's their job.  They could turn out to be wrong but so far nothing leaking about him has been wrong over the years.  That also includes his being a white supremacist.  He made his views clear on that one.

You got all the buzz words in there, didn't you...

The news has never been wrong in the past few years either, right?

Ah well, Twitter accounts aren't obligatory!

Personally not going to delete my account, I've tried using other social media platforms like GNU Social, Diaspora, Mastodon and literally none of your actual friends or family ever jump over.

Most people won't leave Twitter.

Same reason I don't ditch Facebook, even though I barely care about it.  Noone I know cares about any of the other stuff.

Mr "Free Speech Absolutionist" Musk has now just fired 50% of the Twitter workforce, in complete contravention of the WARN act that REQUIRES 60 days notice of mass layoffs...  A lawsuit was already filed yesterday as they knew he was going to do this... For the second time, too...

I welcome less centralization than today. Personal communities pretty much unequivocally leads to a better atmosphere and while I too visit them daily, social media are largely a scourge to the Internet and I'd happily use alternatives where applicable. And I already do of course. But a problem here with classic forums is discoverability. For example, for you to get in touch with these guys, now you need to specifically learn that she created some forum on her website and if you didn't catch this, she'll just appear to have disappeared. We need a better platform for discovering disparate communities.

Anyway, so far Elon Musk is handling this about as elegant as a bull in a china shop. I wonder where Twitter will be in a year.

That's classic conservative what-about-ism used when you have no valid point to make.  Either say nothing or say something useful.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/whataboutism-origin-meaning

Seriously, this my last reply to you to get your head out of your behind (gonna save it cause variations of it will he handy whenever I encounter right wingers.  The media making mistakes and the media making things up are entirely different things.  Both sides have different issues and different degrees of severity while the intent really matters.  You right wingers cry about PC culture and how intent matters in words...here's another situation where the same logic applies.

Left Wing News

  • Has suppressed stories that are negative such as the Hunter Biden laptop stuff.  Because fox news and other conservative outlets were all over this, left wing media should have covered this factually...specially since Hunter isn't even in politics and most of us don't give a crap about it.
  • Has made mistakes.  Sure...and they correct it when they catch it or get called out.
  • Left wing ideals.  Duh, we need to be in a more science based culture and leave behind the bad ideas that have held us back AND harmed a lot of people.  Religion and politics need to be separated for a healthy society to function without those bad ideas getting involved...cause religion still has no credible evidence to prove anything.
  • People issues.  Yeah, there have been some people issues and little scandals.  How bad are these...well compare them to the next section and this is only recent history.  Remember these are still humans with flaws and they're bound to make mistakes.  We judge them on the job they're there to do and if something affects that (FOR REAL, NOT MADE UP STUFF) then yeah they should be fired and it happens.  The left holds itself WAY MORE accountable than the right.

Right Wing News

  • Outright fakes news stories and fakes video footage such as with the Trump inauguration ceremony crowd size.  They used footage from Obama's because Trump couldn't handle that most people didn't want to see him president and knew he would be awful but he was already lying before .
  • Very thin line between Opinion (Hannity, O'Reilly, and now Tucker) and actual news.
  • Most of the coverage there is heavily focused on criticizing the left only.  Opinions are dropped on top that are simply proven false.  They have opinions about how society should work, psychology, climate science, economic matters, and more that have been proven over and over to not work and cause harm.  Example: Hunter Biden, Abortion Laws, LGBT Issues...specially trans issues, womens rights, the whole trickle down economics thing that always ruins the economy when Republicans are in power, guns, and more.
    • Here are the effects of these policies
      • Red states are commonly poorer, less educated, less healthy, and less happy.  These are verifiable statistics.  Why is that?
      • The Hunter Biden story, who cares.  If there was a special job he got cause of his daddy, cry me a river, tell me a politician not doing that.
      • LGBT Issues are way worse in red states.  Suicides among trans people are the highest but overall our whole community has terrible mental health issues from growing up in a country that oppressed us.  Psychology here matters and mental health is very real to anyone who's ever experienced it.  For most people they can't understand it until it happens to them.  Empathy and compassion towards our fellow man is a religious ideal isnt it?
        • If this doesn't bother you, that says a lot about the movement you are part of and yourself than anything.  Fox news etc has been pushing this false narrative that there was a threat such as with bathroom bills and trying to paint trans people as predators looking for a way into opposite of their birth gender bathrooms.  There were never any actual incidents of this of actual trans people and they falsely made it seem like a real issue which further pushed hate crimes.  Hate crimes follow a lot of fox news' FUD.
      • Womens issues.  Boy where do I start.  Abortion stuff, and whether you're against abortion or not its up to a woman as its her body as well as the fact that if you outlaw abortions you lead to women having unsanctioned/unsafe abortions which leads to a lot of deaths.
        • If this doesnt bother you....geesh
      • Trickle down economics.  Giving money to the wealthiest never worked out under any republican president.  Trump and Bush tried this hard and it ruined the economy.  Unregulated capitalism is a disaster, but so is over regulated.  Fox news pedals this bad economic practice because a lot of those hosts are owned by corps and absolutely love the money they're making.  They're very loaded compared to a lot of left wing hosts.   It doesn't pay well to be honest.  Fox news pushes the 'buy gold' thing while having personal stakes in those companies all the time.
        • Weren't we upset about the hunter biden thing?  Don't yall accuse democrats of corruption and get upset about it.  Why not right wingers?
        • Left wingers caught in scandals/MeToo stuff get fired quickly.  Bill O'Reilly lasted years and years and got away with it forever.  He was evil, tucker is far worse.  Look up tuckers John Oliver episode, very good info.

Phew!

Trump is also ultra top level gross.  Never was even mildly attractive.

What did he expect to happen when he Tweets the crap he does and not expect this to happen.

FYI, advertisers are practicing their free speech ;)

If you changed the Twitter handle to @therealDonaldTrump I would believe he tweeted it.

It sounds exactly like him (eg: Everyone else is to blame, but not me!)

Well, they ARE both malignant narcissists... Birds of a feather and all that...

I hate to bust anyones bubble but anyone who believes Twitter is free speech is stupid. All internet sites have to moderate content because we have a lot of morons who hate on this planet. Even the conservative sites that claim they are about free speech moderate their content.

BTW, there is a massive drop in advertising because you're a dick. Disfunction has been the theme of this takeover and advertisers do not like disfunction. Now that we have all figured it out, we can move on to something that means something.

So, you set yourself up with Blue = verification.  People started changing their display name to “Elon Musk” and you start doing which you said you wouldn’t, permanently suspend accounts because you’re ego is bruised yet again.

Isn't this illegal? In the U.S. you cannot fire people based off race, religion or politics.

It is, but those types are generally problems in other ways as conservatives are just hardwired to be a negative force in everything around them.  Management always keeps "ammunition" around anyways on the little things like web browsing habits at the office as a way to quick fire people if needed.

Either way, they're gone now, and won't be finding any jobs any time soon around here because they snuck into those fields before ppl realized what kinda people they are.

It's fitting that Twitter is imploding in the most memable way possible.

I'm extremely loving how much he was BSing on a Friday interview he gave about how he plans to monetize it.  His fans don't even believe his own words or trumps and just believe the narrative they want, but he actually said if you don't pay you basically wont have a voice at all there.

    • NASA: This asteroid may not kill us but it probably won't be far off either by Sayan Sen Image by Zelch Csaba via Pexels New observations by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope have eliminated the last remaining impact threat posed by asteroid 2024 YR4, ruling out the possibility that the near-Earth object could strike the Moon in December 2032. NASA said observations collected by Webb on February 18 and 26, 2026, enabled scientists to refine the asteroid's orbit enough to "rule out a chance of lunar impact on Dec. 22, 2032." Instead, asteroid 2024 YR4 is now expected to pass the Moon at a distance of about 13,200 miles (21,200 km). The agency stressed that the update "reflects improved precision in our understanding of where the asteroid is expected to be in 2032 rather than a shift in its orbital path." The announcement closes a remarkable chapter in planetary defence that began in late 2024, when the approximately 60-metre-wide asteroid briefly became the most closely watched near-Earth object in the world. Discovered on December 27, 2024, by the ATLAS telescope in Chile, 2024 YR4 initially appeared to have a small chance of colliding with Earth on December 22, 2032. As astronomers gathered more observations, the impact probability briefly climbed to around 3%—the highest ever recorded for an asteroid of its size—before steadily falling as its orbit became better understood. By early 2025, international observations had ruled out any significant risk to Earth. However, astronomers were left with another possibility: a roughly 4% chance that the asteroid could instead strike the Moon. "The probability that asteroid 2024 YR4 will strike the Moon on 22 December 2032 is now approximately 4%," the European Space Agency (ESA) had said last year, noting that "there is a 96% chance that the asteroid will not impact the Moon." ESA said such an impact, while unlikely, would have presented an extraordinary scientific opportunity. "It is a very rare event for an asteroid this large to impact the Moon – and it is rarer still that we know about it in advance. The impact would likely be visible from Earth, and so scientists will be very excited by the prospect of observing and analysing it," said Richard Moissl, Head of ESA's Planetary Defence Office. "It would certainly leave a new crater on the surface. However, we wouldn't be able to accurately predict in advance how much material would be thrown into space, or whether any would reach Earth," he added. The asteroid also exposed an important blind spot in planetary defence. Because 2024 YR4 approached Earth from the direction of the Sun, it remained hidden from ground-based telescopes until after its closest approach. "We looked into how Neomir would have performed in this situation, and the simulations surprised even us," Moissl said. "Neomir would have detected asteroid 2024 YR4 about a month earlier than ground-based telescopes did. This would have given astronomers more time to study the asteroid's trajectory and allowed them to much sooner rule out any chance of Earth impact in 2032." He added, "As an infrared telescope, like Webb, Neomir would have also immediately given us a much better estimate for the asteroid's size, which is very important for assessing the significance of the hazard." The latest NASA observations underscore the value of space-based infrared telescopes in tracking faint asteroids. According to NASA, Webb made "among the faintest ever observations of an asteroid," extending the object's observational record by nearly eight months at a time when it had become too faint for other telescopes. That additional data allowed scientists to eliminate the remaining uncertainty surrounding its 2032 flyby. Although asteroid 2024 YR4 is now confirmed to pose no threat to either Earth or the Moon, scientists say its discovery remains one of the most significant real-world tests of the international planetary defence system, demonstrating how continued observations can rapidly transform an object once considered hazardous into one whose future path is known with high confidence.
