So, you set yourself up with Blue = verification.  People started changing their display name to “Elon Musk” and you start doing which you said you wouldn’t, permanently suspend accounts because you’re ego is bruised yet again.

I'm honestly surprised once you are verified you can change your name, you'd think they'd want to you know.... lock that so you cant pretend to be someone.... but then that code was written a long time ago probably well before Musk

I tend to look at the handle/account instead of the displayed name being that changes whatever hot topic or holiday that's coming up.  Though I do agree changing the username should be locked once you pay for a subscription.

That's classic conservative what-about-ism used when you have no valid point to make.  Either say nothing or say something useful.

Seriously, this my last reply to you to get your head out of your behind (gonna save it cause variations of it will he handy whenever I encounter right wingers.  The media making mistakes and the media making things up are entirely different things.  Both sides have different issues and different degrees of severity while the intent really matters.  You right wingers cry about PC culture and how intent matters in words...here's another situation where the same logic applies.

Left Wing News

  • Has suppressed stories that are negative such as the Hunter Biden laptop stuff.  Because fox news and other conservative outlets were all over this, left wing media should have covered this factually...specially since Hunter isn't even in politics and most of us don't give a crap about it.
  • Has made mistakes.  Sure...and they correct it when they catch it or get called out.
  • Left wing ideals.  Duh, we need to be in a more science based culture and leave behind the bad ideas that have held us back AND harmed a lot of people.  Religion and politics need to be separated for a healthy society to function without those bad ideas getting involved...cause religion still has no credible evidence to prove anything.
  • People issues.  Yeah, there have been some people issues and little scandals.  How bad are these...well compare them to the next section and this is only recent history.  Remember these are still humans with flaws and they're bound to make mistakes.  We judge them on the job they're there to do and if something affects that (FOR REAL, NOT MADE UP STUFF) then yeah they should be fired and it happens.  The left holds itself WAY MORE accountable than the right.

Right Wing News

  • Outright fakes news stories and fakes video footage such as with the Trump inauguration ceremony crowd size.  They used footage from Obama's because Trump couldn't handle that most people didn't want to see him president and knew he would be awful but he was already lying before .
  • Very thin line between Opinion (Hannity, O'Reilly, and now Tucker) and actual news.
  • Most of the coverage there is heavily focused on criticizing the left only.  Opinions are dropped on top that are simply proven false.  They have opinions about how society should work, psychology, climate science, economic matters, and more that have been proven over and over to not work and cause harm.  Example: Hunter Biden, Abortion Laws, LGBT Issues...specially trans issues, womens rights, the whole trickle down economics thing that always ruins the economy when Republicans are in power, guns, and more.
    • Here are the effects of these policies
      • Red states are commonly poorer, less educated, less healthy, and less happy.  These are verifiable statistics.  Why is that?
      • The Hunter Biden story, who cares.  If there was a special job he got cause of his daddy, cry me a river, tell me a politician not doing that.
      • LGBT Issues are way worse in red states.  Suicides among trans people are the highest but overall our whole community has terrible mental health issues from growing up in a country that oppressed us.  Psychology here matters and mental health is very real to anyone who's ever experienced it.  For most people they can't understand it until it happens to them.  Empathy and compassion towards our fellow man is a religious ideal isnt it?
        • If this doesn't bother you, that says a lot about the movement you are part of and yourself than anything.  Fox news etc has been pushing this false narrative that there was a threat such as with bathroom bills and trying to paint trans people as predators looking for a way into opposite of their birth gender bathrooms.  There were never any actual incidents of this of actual trans people and they falsely made it seem like a real issue which further pushed hate crimes.  Hate crimes follow a lot of fox news' FUD.
      • Womens issues.  Boy where do I start.  Abortion stuff, and whether you're against abortion or not its up to a woman as its her body as well as the fact that if you outlaw abortions you lead to women having unsanctioned/unsafe abortions which leads to a lot of deaths.
        • If this doesnt bother you....geesh
      • Trickle down economics.  Giving money to the wealthiest never worked out under any republican president.  Trump and Bush tried this hard and it ruined the economy.  Unregulated capitalism is a disaster, but so is over regulated.  Fox news pedals this bad economic practice because a lot of those hosts are owned by corps and absolutely love the money they're making.  They're very loaded compared to a lot of left wing hosts.   It doesn't pay well to be honest.  Fox news pushes the 'buy gold' thing while having personal stakes in those companies all the time.
        • Weren't we upset about the hunter biden thing?  Don't yall accuse democrats of corruption and get upset about it.  Why not right wingers?
        • Left wingers caught in scandals/MeToo stuff get fired quickly.  Bill O'Reilly lasted years and years and got away with it forever.  He was evil, tucker is far worse.  Look up tuckers John Oliver episode, very good info.

Phew!

You know honestly, he's a very ugly dude lol.  I'm gay and I look at him and think 'he let go of himself'.

Trump is also ultra top level gross.  Never was even mildly attractive.

Getting a little off topic and of course the predictable attempt at insult immediately.

Oh I'm done pretending MAGA's deserve respect or give it to others.  Treat em like they treat others and its not like they do facts of reading anyways....cause those are anti conservative.

You are a genius in your own mind.  I've never mentioned politics in this thread at all?

On 08/11/2022 at 16:46, DramaInc said:

I never said such things. Genius in comparison to right wingers for sure. But probably around average for normal people

You need to re-read your posts.  Obviously you are obsessed with right wing politics and I'm not sure what that has to do with anything I posted?  Somehow an Elon Musk conversation got turned into a rant on MAGA right wing politics and gay and transgender stuff?  I honestly could care less what you think of all that as it has nothing to do with this thread.

I keep seeing this headline, and the more I do, the less I care. Twitter had piqued a decade ago, at least. Nothing but scammers and beggars anyway, from what I've seen.

Twitter is (was) still very useful if you follow sports news or other things like that. During trades deadline this is where you'll learn about trades first. Also before Musk bought it it did a WAY better job than Facebook at moderating the content. Facebook is full of spam and dubious content. Twitter verified journalist accounts used to be something you could trust in most instances in Canada. That's where i get most of my hockey news.

I'll quote what a friend of mine has been saying for a while; "Social media is destroying society".

Twitter, Facebook, whatever... all trash. Amplifies all the worst parts of our society.

I don't think it really "amplifies", but holy hell has the moronic "woke" political and social activism on these networks (TikTok and Twitter especially) the last couple of years really just destroyed what we had going. 2020 killed social media for me for a while.

    • Sony announces Bungie layoffs that will affect "significant number of employees" by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony today announced that major layoffs are happening at its first-party studio Bungie, the developer that has spawned series like Halo, Destiny, and Marathon over the past decades. The news arrives just weeks after Bungie delivered the final update to Destiny 2, and it's that team being hit with the layoffs the most. CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Hermen Hulst revealed the staff reduction today, calling it "painful news." "Over the past several months, together with Bungie leadership, we reviewed the studio’s long-term direction, development priorities, resource needs, and role within our broader portfolio strategy," said Hulst, explaining the decision. "We explored multiple alternatives before concluding that a reduction was necessary to align the studio’s resources with its current priorities and long-term goals." The layoffs will be hitting "a significant number of employees" across most of the Destiny franchise development team. It doesn't look like Sony is planning to continue the series following Destiny 2's sunsetting update. The studio is said to be in early stages of looking at other projects to pivot to, but it's said that keeping the size of the team at current levels is no longer feasible. "We know this decision has a profound impact on the people affected, their families, friends, and teammates," said Bungie leadership in a separate message on social media. "While these changes are necessary to best position the studio now and for the future, that does not lessen the difficulty of this moment or the impact it has on those affected." At the same time, "some" of the Marathon development team are also affected by the layoffs. The recently released multiplayer-only extraction shooter title hasn't seen a big boom of players either, but the company is reportedly hoping that the live service experience will pick up players with future updates.
    • Microsoft adds reusable skills and finance data connectors to Copilot in Excel by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft is giving Copilot in Excel a collection of new features aimed squarely at finance teams. The update introduces reusable instructions for common tasks, connections to services such as FactSet and Morningstar, and a better way to review what Copilot intends to do before it starts changing a workbook. The most interesting addition is 'Skills' finally coming to Copilot in Excel. Skills let companies teach Copilot how to handle a recurring process, so employees do not need to write the same detailed prompt every month. Users can create skills that can specify the steps Copilot should follow, along with the required layout, formulas, and formatting. Microsoft says users can create their own skills by saving a SKILL.md file in OneDrive. The file is written using Markdown and tells Copilot when and how to perform the task. Once it is available, a user can select the skill in the Copilot pane or mention it in a prompt using the @ symbol. There is also a library of prebuilt finance skills for customers who do not want to create their own. Microsoft plans to let developers distribute additional skills through the Microsoft Marketplace and the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, with LSEG, Ramp, Rogo, samaya.ai, Velixo, and Vena among the first partners involved. The company says that it is also expanding the external data that Copilot can access from inside Excel. New connectors are being added for CB Insights, Daloopa, FactSet, Morningstar, PitchBook, and S&P Global data through technology developed by Kensho. There is a catch, however. Accessing these services may require a separate subscription from the relevant data provider, so a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence will not necessarily unlock all of them. FactSet is also only available in preview for now, with general availability planned for July. Microsoft is also trying to make Copilot’s workbook edits easier to inspect. Users can switch to a planning mode that shows which sheets, cell ranges, formulas, and assumptions Copilot intends to work with before it begins making changes. Once the work is complete, the Show Changes pane can distinguish edits made by Copilot from those made by human collaborators. The update continues Microsoft’s push to turn Excel Copilot from a chatbot into an agent that can carry out longer tasks. The company previously added an Agent Mode capable of planning and completing multi-step Excel work. Microsoft also recently acquired financial AI startup Fintool, another indication that finance is becoming a key target for its Excel AI strategy. Prebuilt skills, personalization, workbook rules, external connectors, planning mode, and Copilot attribution in Show Changes are generally available to Microsoft 365 Copilot customers using Excel on the web, Windows, and macOS. Custom skills are initially available to Microsoft 365 Insiders on Windows and Mac starting today. Microsoft plans to make them generally available across Windows, Mac, and the web over the next month. Partner-built skills are expected during the third quarter of the year. Availability may still differ depending on region and licensing.
    • Exactly. They serve different (although related) purposes.
    • Do not enter the code under any circumstances, or you will be sorry. It's definitely and most likely a hacking attempt.  That happened to me a couple of years ago, and I kept receiving those prompts for months. It's simply the attacker trying to get you tired of the constant requests, so you just give up and enter the code, so they can log in to your account.
