Willow Series on Disney+

Recommended Posts

Ok I loved the movie... I watched first two eps with a very open mind considering how many other things Disney has trashed.

Why on earth would you force a single scene that lasted all of 5 seconds of two girls kissing and at no point does that have anything to do with what was going on or what has happened for the entire ep and ep2??? Even the scenes of the guy/girl just wasn't needed to set the stage for their arrival. Could have certainly written this in a different way to intro those specific actors. The acting on top of it is just horrible... the scenes they put together with the props look so fake and nothing like the original movie that I just don't know what else to say.  The red hair chick that stared in Falcon shows, Solo just over plays her roles way to much and was a failure to select for the role. It undermines the main character way to much when they are building a setting in Ep1.

Why must disney trash the films history that were so great and one of a kind for the sake of a few series is beyond me. Without Val the movie wouldn't have been any good either and we know he is in no condition to do anything of this nature much like he struggled for Maverick.

Even Warwick Davis and his acting has suffered here lately considering films he's done and the main Willow movie.

I would give it 1 star out of 5 mainly because of well Warwick just being in it but the story, situations, the lack of good editing and props were just failures. I doubt it will get much better... may finish watching once all out but man am I disappointed in what they did with this film series.

It is all about "THE MESSAGE" lol.

Have you heard about the screenings rumors of Indy 5, apparently it was awful...another ruined franchise.

Everything that Disney touches nowadays turns into trash.

indy was ruined a long time ago

I give Willow 15 minutes. Probably not enough but i don't care. My issues where the cinematography though, very cheap. Youtubers have better production value. I found the American accents and modern words jarring for a medieval fantasy but maybe thats just me

I saw a review title that said something like "The new Willow series is great, until Warwick Davis turns up"

Edit: here we go https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/nov/30/willow-review-warwick-davies-fantasy-reboot-is-lots-of-fun-until-he-appears

This is why when I do reviews I give a movie rating as well as a BBQ rating LOL.

It came from a friend who when giving me a verbal review of the new top gun movie he said "It was great man, no LBTQA Barbque Bullsh*t" ... .So BBQ stuck

No you are right about the accents used...but look at it in the midevil times that acts they showed in the show would have caused the women to be burned at the stake, hung, stabbed..burned again or something along those lines. The churches ruled those times and if you want to stick to how the history was you don't show this kinda thing. It isn't to say that times have changed but you aren't showing a film taking place in 2022 you are in mid evil times. Lord of the Rings never did anything like this and for good reason.

If I had a dime, for every post about a first episode of a new series that people took issue with, and posted "final thoughts" about the entire run, without even knowing where it's going... I could give Musk a run for Twitter and toss his bum ass to the curb.

Not knocking your opinion, it's just getting really old seeing this. We seen it with every Disney release so far in the past couple years. The Mandalorian wouldn't have gotten out of E1 without people seeing Grogu, and then expect to see that with every story. Everyone seemed to despise Boba Fett, until it ended.. couldn't stand watching Obi-Wan, but lo and behold, here comes the princess, and suddenly everyone is rowing the boat full steam.

So..., what we're complaining about now, is suddenly everything has to be "woke", is that it? Or are we depressed because everything today, isn't being made like it was 20/30/40/50 years ago, when it was only cool to see a princess kiss her (unknown) brother? I mean, it was so cool watching a teen girl having a corpse and a dog fight over who gets to breed with her, but two girls kissing, for one second as their future was uncertain, and here we are lost in the woke convo, because it's just easier to watch a man and a woman go at it.

Where's the post about Jim Parson's new movie? Are we gonna cry now that Sheldon is actually gay?

Just really curious as to why this is everyone's gripe? I know politicians want women to stay in the 1950s, not sure why everyone else expects Hollywood to keep them there too.

It's not medieval - it's on a different world with magic, forcefields, and monsters. They even showed a giant moon and a smaller moon in the night sky.

And you just had to post here - despite giving only 15 minutes. Not a good look.

Why does that matter? Gay people exist in the real world. Does he also get mad when there are black characters?

Well well well. The Andrew Warren suspension trial is in full swing down in Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis’s legal team is in hot water. The trial, which is challenging the lawfulness of DeSantis suspending Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren, presented Warren’s legal team with the opportunity to force DeSantis’s team to define the word “woke” after DeSantis used it several times to disparage Warren.

The lead lawyer on DeSantis’s team defined woke as: “The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.

I bet that isn't your understanding of the word.

Nothing about your fantasy of the left agenda at all.

Such aggression, I didn't like it. Not just the accents but the dialogue and the overall production value. I got bored after 15 minutes and turned it off. My opinion doesn't stop your enjoyment of the programme. I just didn't like it. Honestly didn't much like the original film either. I just left my opinion and left it at that... Until now that is.

Haven't watched it, and I'm not going to.  I'm sick and tired of the constant modern sequels to old movies and shows that ALWAYS completely and utterly suck to hell and back, and I don't want yet another childhood favourite get ruined by a hack who thinks they can do better than the original.

Pack it in, Hollywood.  Quit recycling old stuff and come up with something NEW for a damn change!

I swear... If someone takes it into their head to try to do the same to such classics as Krull, Beastmaster or Ladyhawke, I'm going to find them, and I'm going to sit on them!

They are re-making Flight of the Navigator with an all female cast......worked well for ghostbusters

I've been milking the eps these last few days and I'm just utterly disgusted at how they've (Disney) has forced such nonsense into the story. The lines and acting is just pure bad all around. The added music from various groups and reworked is just icing on the cake.

Like Hollywood in general lately they (Disney) are going 'woke' and alienating millions of people because of it. it's no longer about quality, but politics.

but as usual, they got to learn the hard way by their $ taking a significant hit before they consider coming back to reality. but given how blind they are, it's likely going to take a long time before they see the light. so I suspect we still have years, if not many years to come, with all of this woke poison that Hollywood will continue to swallow, meanwhile the common sane person gives them the middle finger ;)

p.s. personally I think Disney in general is very overrated, even before all of this woke stuff took over.

I finished all eps and as I said last post just done with Willow..I sure hope they don't make anymore. All of the lesbian kissing scenes or an entire ep dedicated to it was just stupid and the acting was so bad thru the whole thing I had to force myself thru it all. The movie was great...this was nothing like the movie. Had they just made a full feature film sequel it would have likely been 10x better along with keeping the wokeness bs out of it.

Thing is they are getting away with all of it, I can't review anything on their site which is lame. They should have a review section for each movie/film/series they have on disney+ for parents and so on to read into before making a choice to watch it.

    • A 13 billion year old secret about our Universe's origin was revealed by Sayan Sen Image by Pascal Küffer via Pexels Researchers at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik (MPIK) in Heidelberg had recreated a key chemical reaction from the early universe, producing results that could change scientists' understanding of how the first stars formed. The study focused on the helium hydride ion (HeH⁺), which is widely regarded as the first molecule to form in the universe. Scientists believe HeH⁺ appeared around 380,000 years after the Big Bang, when the universe had cooled enough for electrons and atomic nuclei to combine into neutral atoms in a period known as recombination. This marked the beginning of chemistry in the cosmos. Immediately after the Big Bang about 13.8 billion years ago, the universe was extremely hot and dense. As it expanded and cooled, hydrogen and helium became the dominant elements. Once neutral helium atoms formed, they could react with ionised hydrogen nuclei, or protons, to create helium hydride ions. Although simple in structure, HeH⁺ played an important role in the young universe. It was the first step in a chain of reactions that eventually produced molecular hydrogen (H₂), a molecule made up of two hydrogen atoms and now the most abundant molecule in the universe. Molecular hydrogen later became a key ingredient in the formation of the first stars. At the time, the universe had entered a phase often called the cosmological "dark age." Matter had become transparent to light following recombination, but there were still no stars or galaxies producing visible light. Several hundred million years would pass before the first stars appeared. For those first stars to form, large clouds of gas had to collapse under their own gravity. To do that, the gas needed to cool by releasing energy. While hydrogen atoms can help with this process at high temperatures, they become less effective below about 10,000 degrees Celsius. Molecules can continue the cooling process by releasing energy through rotational and vibrational motions. Scientists have long considered HeH⁺ a potentially important coolant because of its comparatively large dipole moment, a property that describes how electric charge is distributed within a molecule and allows it to release energy efficiently. The amount of helium hydride present in the early universe may therefore have influenced how easily the first stars could form. At the same time, HeH⁺ was constantly being destroyed. Under primordial conditions, its main destruction mechanisms were recombination with free electrons and chemical reactions with hydrogen atoms. These reactions ultimately helped produce molecular hydrogen, linking the formation and destruction of HeH⁺ to the chemistry that shaped the early universe. For many years, theoretical studies suggested that reactions between HeH⁺ and hydrogen atoms would become much slower at low temperatures. Scientists believed there was an energy barrier along the reaction pathway that reduced the chances of the reaction taking place in the cold conditions of the early universe. The new study suggests otherwise. To investigate the process, researchers recreated a closely related reaction using deuterium, a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen that contains one proton and one neutron in its nucleus. When HeH⁺ collides with deuterium, it forms an HD⁺ ion and a neutral helium atom. This allows scientists to study the reaction in a controlled way while closely mimicking the behaviour of the original reaction involving hydrogen. The experiments were carried out at the Cryogenic Storage Ring (CSR) at MPIK, a specialised facility designed to recreate conditions similar to those found in space. Researchers stored HeH⁺ ions in the 35-metre storage ring for up to 60 seconds at temperatures just a few kelvins above absolute zero and merged them with a beam of neutral deuterium atoms. By adjusting the speeds of the two particle beams, the team measured how the reaction rate changed with collision energy, which is directly related to temperature. The researchers found that the reaction rate remains almost constant as temperatures decrease. In other words, the reaction does not slow down at low temperatures as earlier models predicted. “Previous theories predicted a significant decrease in the reaction probability at low temperatures, but we were unable to verify this in either the experiment or new theoretical calculations by our colleagues,” explained Dr Holger Kreckel of MPIK. “The reactions of HeH⁺ with neutral hydrogen and deuterium therefore appear to have been far more important for chemistry in the early universe than previously assumed,” he continued. According to the researchers, the reaction appears to be barrierless, meaning there is no energy obstacle preventing it from taking place efficiently even at very low temperatures. The findings support recent theoretical work led by physicist Yohann Scribano, whose group identified an error in a widely used potential energy surface, a mathematical model used to describe how the energy of a system changes during a chemical reaction. The error appears to have caused previous studies to significantly underestimate reaction rates under primordial conditions. The new calculations closely match the experimental results. Together, they suggest that helium chemistry in the early universe may need to be re-evaluated. Because molecules such as HeH⁺ and molecular hydrogen played an important role in cooling primordial gas clouds, the findings could help scientists build more accurate models of how the first stars formed. By showing that helium hydride was likely destroyed more efficiently than previously thought, the study offers new insight into the chemical processes that shaped the universe during its earliest stages and helped set the conditions for the emergence of the first stars.
