Hello,

This is the new yearly poll for sharing your preferred storage solutions and covers both hard disk drives and solid-state drives.  The previous year's poll can be found here.

Please feel free to describe what you are currently using this year, plus any planned upgrades.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

For my network storage, Seagate has been rock solid for me. For ssd, i have tried a couple different brands, but Samsung (voted for) and XPG have not let me down yet

Seagate for HDDs - replaced Western Digital - due to dropping prices for the Deskstar half-height HDDs - the seriously increased storage for the size.  Example - my last Deskstar has four times the capacity of the Deskstar that it replaced - despite it costing half as much.  Price for terabyte is now all of $25 per terabyte vice $100 per terabyte.  Scary shocker - the two drives are physically the same size.

additional data

I no longer recommend Samsung because of recent problems with their firmware. I bought a 990 after their first firmware fix but I still see problems with inconsistent performance in the SEQ1M Q1T1 test. Instead I use an SK Hynix Platinum P41 which has performed flawlessly so far.

Gotta shop around for deals. Got my last external for $15 per terabyte. Saw a deal for an internal 16tb for $9 per TB.

A major compiler is used for both x86/x64 and WoA64 architectures. This also means that all core libraries are re-compiled accordingly which required some changes in the build scripts. One of the core libraries (cURL) has been updated to address vulnerabilities and a nasty linker error that was causing the need for a dedicated patch which could now be eliminated. • It's basically the only web browser project not controlled by a major corporation.
    • You missed out, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were beautiful epic masterpieces, I never got to play The Last Guardian sadly so can't really comment on that one.
