Actor Bruce Willis has frontotemporal dementia, his family has announced on social media.

In a statement on Instagram, his family said it was a "relief to finally have a clear diagnosis".

In spring 2022, he was diagnosed with aphasia - which causes difficulties with speech - but this has progressed and he has been given a more specific diagnosis, the family said.

Didn't he announce this last year?

That sucks. I really enjoyed when came out and attempted to end the debate of Die Hard not being a Christmas movie.  Even though I disagree with him.  It happens during a Christmas party.

It's a *bleeping* Bruce Willis Christmas Movie!

Die Hard is clearly NOT a true Christmas movie and here is why...

sure, technically there is some level of Christmas in it, but it's basically a action movie with a trace of Christmas in it as it does not really focus around Christmas like proper Christmas movies do. true Christmas movies are movies like Christmas Vacation/Home Alone etc which are unquestionably Christmas movies. Die Hard on the other hand can be questioned, which this alone makes it enough to say it's not a true Christmas movie.

so basically it boils down to your standards for qualification... if you got lower standards (as in any trace of Christmas in it makes it qualify), Die Hard is a Christmas movie. if you have more proper/higher standards, Die Hard is NOT a true Christmas movie.

so by the higher standard mindset... Die Hard does not really feel like a proper Christmas movie does. so I am clearly in the camp saying it's NOT a Christmas movie overall. even if you want to take the position that it is a Christmas movie, it's easily on the weak side of Christmas movies as movies like Christmas Vacation etc are unquestionably more Christmas like than Die Hard is.

In relation to my post above... two 'face palms' so far but no counter argument as to why Matthew S and Dick Montage gave me the face palm. because there really ain't much of a counter argument and they know it, but don't want to admit it.

but clearly it comes back to ones standard of what qualifies as a Christmas movie in whether it's a Christmas movie or not (which I made clear in my post above). I don't really think anyone can question that basic point since i think it's at the heart of that whole debate as to whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not as many, like myself, say it's not overall as the Christmas stuff takes a backseat to the general action movie. because with movies like Christmas Vacation, Christmas is clearly much more central to it. it would be difficult to disagree with this for anyone who's honest. hence, my point of ones standards for what qualifies as a Christmas movie is at the core of it.

You received the facepalms because you missed the point of a well-known joke that’s been around for decades; no explanation is needed. You have four now btw.

When 4 becomes 8.

Here is the storyline according to the IMDB:

Quote

NYPD cop John McClane goes on a Christmas vacation to visit his wife Holly in Los Angeles where she works for the Nakatomi Corporation. While they are at the Nakatomi headquarters for a Christmas party, a group of robbers led by Hans Gruber take control of the building and hold everyone hostage, with the exception of John, while they plan to perform a lucrative heist. Unable to escape and with no immediate police response, John is forced to take matters into his own hands.

Christmas is a plot device, therefore it is a Christmas movie.

Seriously dude, WHO BLOODY CARES!! Just be sad that a nice guy has been stricken with a truly awful disease (I know, it took my mother), and leave it at that, yes?  Leave the pathetic Christmas movie arguments where they belong, elsewhere. :(

I see we haven't finished the War on Christmas if you still don't think Diehard is a Christmas movie, I'll assemble the Happy Holiday troops to fire up the Festivius tanks that shoot Holiday Trees at Christmas decorations. More at 11.

That's tough. My mom has Alzheimers so I hope the dementia is not as severe as that but doing some quick off the cuff research..it very well seems like it is..its very sad watching someone "slip away" from being recognizable to a far cry of their former selves. Hopefully everyone, including the media, are respectful to him and his condition.

It's one of the worse illness there are IMO, because though it eventually will take your life, first it takes your mind.  My mum was diagnosed at age 55 and it took 10 years to destroy her.  What was worse, is that before she became ill, she was a geriatric specialist nurse and had spent most of her life caring for dementia sufferers... She knew in intimate detail what was going to happen to her and she begged my dad not to let her go through that...

There's something to be said for voluntary euthanasia. Sorry for your loss.

    • The only reason I want to know where you from is because if you are not from the U.K, then why should you care what we in the U.K do or don't do? Racist I am not, I am fed up with the amount coming over here and feel they can come over here and think we need to support them. Do you know how much it costs this country to support these people coming over here? Even when we give them a place to live it is not good enough. We had a barge that was being used to house immigrants, oh but that was not good enough. A mate said to me at the time, when he was homeless, he would have been happy to live on the barge, instead of ending up sleeping on a bench on the beach. I am not scared to say what my family heritage is, unlike you who is scared to say where they are from or where they live. Father side U.S, mother side Wales, still have family living in the U.S. A mate who sadly died a few years ago, had a load of people from different races recording in his studio, I got on with all of them. Skin colour don't bother me, where they are from don't bother me. Religion don't bother me as long as they don't push it onto me and it is not crazy stuff. I am not religious. But if you are not living in the U.K, then why should you care if we are in the E.U or not? This the problem, too many people poking their noses into where it don't belong. But you believe what you believe, if you think I am racist, then be it, I really do not care. Just grow a pair
    • If he hasn't been able to figure that out, then why is he obsessed with tariffs? Because that's one of the most prominent tools to level the playing field when you have high cost of labor.
    • Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5102558, KB5095615 Setup and Recovery updates by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft released the newest preview update (C-release) under KB5095093. Alongside those, Microsoft also released new dynamic updates. For those who may not know, dynamic updates bring improvements to the Windows Recovery process in the form of Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) updates, which are also called Safe OS updates. The dynamic updates also affect the Setup file binaries in the form of Setup updates. These Dynamic Update packages are meant to be applied to existing Windows images prior to their deployment. Dynamic Updates also help preserve Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the upgrade process. VBScript, for example, is currently an FOD on Windows 11 24H2. This time both recovery and setup updates were released for Windows 11. The company writes: "KB5095186: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 26H1: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.28000.2335. KB5102558: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to Windows setup binaries or any files that setup uses for feature updates in Windows 11, version 24H2 and Windows 11, version 25H2. KB5095615: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.26100.8737." Microsoft notes that both the Recovery and Setup updates will be downloaded and installed automatically via the Windows Update channel.
