Is it possible to disable blinking power button light when computer is in the sleep mode? Also is it possible to completely disable leds from the motherboard? My motherboard is ASRock x570 Taichi.

At night these are really bright so I would like to disable those completely.

I don't know of any way to selectively turn it off unless there's an option in the BIOS, and I've never seen one that has that. As far as I know the only way would be to completely shut it down instead of putting it to sleep. Of course the easiest option would probably be to simply cover it at night, maybe set a book on it or something.

Personally I can't stand lights of any kind at night so I just unplug all of my case LEDs, and a small piece of black electric tape to cover the TV standby LED, router LEDs, etc.

Disable the ERP option in the BIOS (Energy-related Products).

Press [System Setting] on the [User Setting Menu] screen, and then press [Power Save Setting] and [ErP Setting] in sequence. Select the desired time button. Select [Do Not Switch] to deactivate this function.

ERP allows certain components to still have power even when the computer is off. When ERP is disabled you will not be able to "Wake on LAN" or charge a phone in one of the USB ports (while the PC is off) I discovered this lovely function after seeing that my Razer keyboard's RGB would stay on even after I had shut down my PC.

If that doesn't work, you might have to get used to switching the PC off at the back (which is the same thing as disabling ERP).

Edit: after further searching, this should also work for you: In Windows under Settings -> System -> Power -> Additional Power Settings -> Choose what the power buttons do -> Turn on fast startup. Make sure that is UNTICKED.

The only way (afaik) to stop it blinking is to either:

1) power off

2) S4 sleep state (hibernate)

When you are in a low power state it will blink...nothing you can do about it.

Socket is hard to reach. PSU switch is behind the aluminium enclosure.

When you put the computer to sleep at night, just take a bottle lid, and put it over the power button :)... Fixed! No more blinky Binky!

Cute.. I always put a peice of tape over it..

Or use a Sharpie lightly over it. Won't maker it black, but it will dim the light.

I think he still wants to see the light when it's on, just not while it's sleeping.

Just make sure its not thin enough to let light through, or you'll have a nice big bottle cap shaped light 😛

That. They make opaque tape where you can still see it, but dimmed.

As for the sharpie, it doesnt fully put the light out.

Thank you all. I was able to switch off those annoying RGB leds on the motherboard so that those are always off.

No luck with the power button blinking on sleep. There just doesn’t seem to be options to adjust it the way I would like to.

I would like the led to be on when the PC in on, only disable it when in sleep mode. Also I would still like to be able to charge my keyboard/mouse when it is sleeping.

Oh well I just put mouse over it at night.

I think what you're asking for is impossible. You suggested that the PC needs to be "woken" for scheduled recordings, so that means you can't disable Fast Boot. The whole premise of Fast Boot is that the system is merely sleeping and the internal LEDs reflect this (it is a board status) and you want the LED to work when it is not sleeping so you can't even disable or cover the LED like some have suggested.

I am the same, I can't sleep with any white/blue/green/yellow LEDs or even the dimmed state of the LCD screen of my Echo Show 8, the only color that doesn't bother me is red (standby light of my TV) which doesn't even face me so it isn't even bright.

My suggestion is to get some red or orange tape and cover the LED with it. I think you'll find it is less distracting.

Or you can manually cover it with the mouse like you said.

Hello,

In the past I have used LIGHT DIMS sticker sheets to greatly reduce the amount of light from LEDs.  Very nice when you are sitting at a desk and have a router, NAS, KVM switch or other gear with bright LEDs facing you all day.

      I have never been a huge fan of libre, it feels really good but exactly when you need an advance feature for data wrangling it falls short every time or has bugs. I am all for euro office if they can deliver a good and usable alternative to MS office with backing of govt function.

Been using it since 3.1 back in 92 and not once have I been locked out of my data? Perhaps you mean Bitlocker? In which case the average user (who doesn't mess about) will have been forced to use a MSA, and in which case the recovery key would have been saved to said account..... If the user did happen to bodge around and not use an MSA then Bitlocker wouldn't have become live (as it cannot without a safe place to store the key) I want to point out Bitlocker and MSA are not connected and you can of course force it on without a safe place to store the key, but you do that with your eyes open. So your standard consumer who knows no better sets up an MSA, gets bitlocker and a recovery key stored off box, with a route to reset their password. All of this notwithstanding the fact, if your data is important, you back it up, no ifs, no buts, no-ones responsibility other than your own. Important data lives in at least two locations, one of which is offline and recovery is tested, otherwise that data wasn't really that important. Disks, fail, laptops get lost, phones end up down the toilet, tablets get stolen, if your only copy of data is on a single device you're doing it wrong.

      Clearly that feature isn't for us. It's for the ad spam marketers so they can more directly target us about going to places we might want to go again...but without understanding context clues.
