i didn't say i don't like it

i askeed why

Shell32.dll's only change the basic icons of XP but many are left out - documents and zip files and program icons and just a lot of things shell32's miss. Basically, the more files in a system pack, the better as the conversion will be more complete.

I'm almost positive that cpl icons are in the shell32.dll. Most the the time system packs modify the .exe file themselves and are not stored in such a central location.

it looks like the shell32.dll in the pack is older than the one on windows update.

gant pack - 6.0.2600.115

newest sp1 - 6.0.2600.1223

i don't know about the rest of the .dll's, but that one looks old.

please correct me if i'm wrong.

lol, my ver is 6.0.2800.1233 (the orig shell32.dll)

I have some majour bugs

My IE toolbar hasn't changed

My icons ( My Computer, Network and Trash Bin haven't changed

Some program icons haven't changed ( like word )

In my explorer the icons also didn't change

How to solve all these problems?

Replace shell32.dll, it seems you haven't.

Ive just checked n yea ive have a old version of the shell32 (I dont know why though Ive got a older version of the shell32) even though im fully updated, except for one update which is installed, but keeps prompting to be downloaded again n installed. Maybe its gotta do something with that.

Well I'll update it with the newer verison shell32 soon.

Bellerophon - try rebuilding ur cache

I have now changed the log off and restart images to remove the text :D .

EDIT:

And yes that is the jpg image, you will have to save it as bitmap before replacing.

EDIT2:

Seems pour quality will up in a different format soon.

EDIT3:

Replaced with a .jpg from PS CS with quality 12. Seems ok now.

No, you havent done anyting wrong, Ive just checked n ive got that smudgy icon too. thats happened coz ive been using restorator to change the icons in some places so that i cud keep the size of the shell32 down as well as keep performance high.

Will look into it, thanx :)

    • Apart from Early Hiccups on Windows 11 on first install on October 6th 2021 on my old Intel 10700 daily use Desktop PC at the time, used to have issue with Bluetooth suddenly no longer working and only fix back then was always another clean install--then would work for a while. Transition to 2024 when i decided to finally upgrade that system for better support for Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6 later on, opted for next daily use Gaming Desktop AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and Radeon 7800XT OC 16GB. No major problems at all with this desktop, OS was clean installed way back on 10/8/2025 not long after 25H2 released. Overall i've been happy with Windows 11 Pro from the start, even minor little quirks didn't sway me. Heck i even use Windows 8 and upgraded immediately upon release back then on my old HP P6-2133W Desktop, and while the specs of that machine didn't give me top notch performance--i still was able to do what i wanted to, without too many slowdowns. Windows ME i didn't use on any of my personal systems back in the day, kept those systems on 98SE til XP released, and grabbed that immediately on release date. Kept XP til Vista Released then upgraded immediately, kept Vista til Windows 7 released, then updated immediately again
    • Broadcom: dreadful company who is destroying VMware by pricing it out of the market.
    • To be fair, it wasn't going anywhere. Even when Windows Phone could run Android APKs, Google didn't want any of it so it'd never work and the same thing happened with Windows. It was never about the store or it's users, it was always the developers and who they aligned to.
    • Wake me up when this comes to PC. Until then... zzzzzzzz....
