Concerning your Queries..i too was a noob once..

1) Download it from here G.A.N.T 2 Shell Pack

2) Im not sure about any other sites. It is very rare you find someone willing to make a full shell pack. Big thank you to Devil for doing it... :)

3) A back up should be made to every dll, cpl exe you replace. If ever you do decide to change, just replace the modd dlls etc with your backups..

4) You do not need anything to use this as it replaces core sys files. All you need is a program called Replacer to replace the files. Very easy to use and makes things less long. Replacer automatically makes back ups of the files. You can get Replacer from here: Replacer Program

If you have any more queries please do not hesitate to PM me....

got problem again.. "My Music" "Favourties" "Network Places" etc.. all revert back to default. what should i do? rebuild icon cache for alot of times already.

Are you using StyleXp or WindowsBlinds ??

Often these skinning programs allow a VS to have their own shell32 attached to the theme thus changing your icons to ones that were included with the Vs...

VS = Visual Style (Just makin sure mate)

Also what was your method of applying the files. If you did it manualy, you may not have replaced all the files. Backups of the original files are kept in other locations. Use replacer as it replaces the files in the backup folders as well..

The link to replacer is in the previous post i made before this one...if you have anymore queries or if i didn't answer you question, post here or Pm me...

im using Replacer. im not using StyleXP or WindowsBlinds. im just using the patch. :)

mUst be a conflict between your backups of your orginals dll etc and the modded ones...make sure at orginals have ben changed or delted...

@Banzai

Are you using any software that maybe caausing this crash such as crash proofing or StyleXp etc,,

Also what Xp are you using....??

ive replace with the originals. or u meant have to change under C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache have to be deleted too?

Yes they have to be either replaced or deleted there too...there is also one more location..a folder called 386i or somthing like that...

With the Thumbnail preview, i don't use that option so therefore wouldn't know what is going on...its best to msg Devil about it...

@Banzai, im not definite but StyleXp maybe causing the problem. Some VS have thier own shells and therefore are comflicting with the G.A.N.T ones...

Try and disable StyleXp, default to xp classic, rebuild your icon cache and see if that fixes the problem..

Also check in X:/windows/resources/themes and then the folder of the theme you are using. Check the folder for a Shell file. If there is one, most definite this could be causing the problem.

Also might want to check the Dllcache and 386i folder and make sure the originals are either delted, replaced with the G.A.N.T ones or renamed...

I don't know if this is a bug or just an incompatability, but when I try and modify netshell.dll (v5.1.2600.1181) I can no longer modify my local area network properties, both through the connection status popup and "view network connections". Had to revert back to original v.5.1.2600.1106.

hmm.. deleted the ones in dllcache folder.. but regarding the i386 folder, there isn't any similar files in it.

hmmm...i also thought backups where kept there aswell...

@skippy, no idea mate...msg devil...

edit: you might want to check this folder aswell

C:\windows\servicepackfiles

[to everyone] i am in no way connnected to devil and the gANT theme, i am just willing to help others out to use the theme. So please don't get angry if i don't know what is going on or don't prvide you with a solution...

Hi, I recently discovered this wonderful shell, and encountered a problem.

The only icons that won't change are the printer icon in the control panel, and the control panel icon itself. I can't seem to figure out which cpl is causing this.

Anybody have a solution to this?

Oh, and how do you rebuild your icon cache?

Thanks in advance :)

    • SpaceX reportedly plans a Starlink mobile service for U.S. consumers by Karthik Mudaliar SpaceX reportedly wants to sell mobile phone plans directly to consumers in the United States as part of a wider expansion of Starlink. According to a report from the Financial Times, SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell discussed the plan with investors during the company’s recent IPO roadshow. The company is also said to be considering building a terrestrial mobile network to complement Starlink’s satellite coverage. The plan is quite different from how Starlink currently operates in the U.S. mobile market. SpaceX already provides satellite connectivity for T-Mobile’s T-Satellite service, but T-Mobile remains responsible for the subscription, billing, and customer support. A Starlink-branded mobile service would give SpaceX control of the customer relationship instead. It could also turn the company from a partner of traditional mobile operators into a direct competitor. T-Mobile also began testing its Starlink-powered satellite service in early 2025. The beta was initially limited to text messaging and was also available to some AT&T and Verizon customers. The service has since expanded to support limited data access through selected apps, including WhatsApp, Google Maps, AccuWeather, and AllTrails. It is designed to provide a connection in areas where normal cell towers are unavailable, rather than replace a conventional mobile network. However, if SpaceX actually has a plan to serve nationwide, it needs to do more than just satellite networks and actually support on-ground operations. It can also partner up with existing carriers and become a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). With that said, SpaceX has already spent heavily to support its mobile ambitions. Just last year, the company agreed to acquire wireless spectrum licences from EchoStar in deals worth a combined $19.6 billion. EchoStar's spectrum includes AWS-4, H-Block, and AWS-3 frequencies that could be used for both satellite and terrestrial communications. According to a SpaceX securities filing, the Federal Communications Commission approved the transaction in May 2026, although it is not expected to close until late 2027. There's no official statement by SpaceX for now. Pricing, availability, and other details remain unknown. Source: Financial Times
