Old Man Rant : Some Youtube Camera Angles have got to go.

Recommended Posts

I feel like an old man ranting about this. But i'm seeing there more and more in youtube videos and they are CRINGY AF

i'm talking about the camera angles were we get to see the person talking while looking at another camera.

Example

For 2 seconds he's talking at this angle

Then 2 seconds later we get the shot from the camera he's actually talking to

The most common ones are when they shoot them from the side as they are looking straight forward into the camera

In my opinion, these fads need to quickly die.

The sad part is, people nowadays can't hook their concentration for more than 2 seconds at a time so they have to constantly switch angles. I get that, but that doesn't change my opinion that it's cringy af.

Just look at all the production overhead, you have to record the subject from 2 angles plus you have to edit that crap in.

Yeah you're right.  I just found that video and it is super-annoying.

And I counted three cameras:

- The one he's looking into
- The one slightly off-axis
- And the one from the side

I'll give him bonus points for decent audio from the lav microphone.  Most channels like this have crappy audio.

But three cameras plus all the B-roll would be a nightmare for the editor.

Check this out... three camera angles in one sentence... holy hell...

Exactly.

I do video production.  Editing two cameras is tough enough.  Adding a third camera makes the editing even more difficult.  I wouldn't deal with all that production overhead unless I was getting paid well.

With 558,000 subscribers... he better make enough Youtube money to pay his editors handsomely!

😛

Ya, why go to all the extra work, when the other 2 angles just look stupid?

Then you also have to have cameras to record those 2 stupid angles.

    • never mind the video had a couple swear words... gosh it was funny!
    • It's expensive, but I bet it will still sell out just like the Steam Deck and the Steam Controller
    • This is listed as a preview in WU for me. I usually don't grab them as previews; what's your opinion on it so far?
