Noblechairs spare part pricing

Recommended Posts

Is this hardware?

I bought Noblechairs Epic NBL-PU-BWB-001 in 2018 and the PU leather is EOL. I asked them how much would new backrest and seatbase cost and those were 50€ each. I was then thinking that why not upgrade it to real leather and they said the backrest would cost 349.90€ and seatbase 234.90€.

I don't understand the logic. I bought NBL-PU-BWB-001 for 279€ in 2018 and new parts would cost 100€. Real leather version NBL-RL-BLA-001 is 599.90€ and parts would cost 584.80€

Parts are pretty much always more expensive separately than when purchased as the overall item.

No. It was 50€ for the seatbase and 50€ backrest. This was for the PU versions.

What I don’t understand is that the same parts in leather are almost 600€.

leather it not that expensive.

Get a new chair, bro.  It's not worth patching it up.

I was thinking of buying the leather version because PU clearly does not last atleast in noblechair chairs. Top layer peels off even though you dont use the chair.

I then started to think how much metal and plastic would go to waste if i throw this away and asked the PU leather replacements which are 100€ total. Then i asked how much the leather versions cost and as those are more than new leather chair, it does not make much sense to buy the leather chair either because at some point you would want to replace the leather parts. I mean if you look 5yo cars with leather seats, those wont last forever either.

So I guess the best thing would be to buy the PU parts and if these last another 5 years maybe it’s then ok to throw this away after serving 10 years.

Leather may not be, but working with it can be.

I don’t know, maybe they use leather from some endangered lizards.

I think the reason it is so much more expensive is because instead of supplying you with 1:1 replacements that they probably even have a surplus of, for the leather they would have to cannibalize a chair that would otherwise be sold as a whole. Also, now you are asking beyond the specifications of your chair. It would be like having a defective engine in your car, that the car maker would replace for free, but they wouldn't if you asked for a different (better, more powerful) engine type.

Also, it reminded me of my own chair that I still have following my Anda Seat review two years ago https://www.neowin.net/reviews/anda-seat-kaiser-2-review--finally-a-gaming-chair-for-big-people/

Mine is "PVC leather" and as a WFH chair, it is used everyday (10+ hours a day) and (the PVC leather) still looks like new! Only thing I don't like about it, is bare skin sticks to the PVC leather.

tl;dr: You're literally asking for an upgrade, and they can probably only do it by destroying a chair that would otherwise be sold as a complete.

Edit: €100 to fix your chair is a bargain considering you already got 5 years use out of it. That would give you 10 years at cost + €100 replaced parts, which is great service from noblechairs imo. I replace my chairs once every 4 years or so at an average of 300-500 Euro. The Anda Seat is holding up very well in comparison to what I bought before.

    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact. Also, the clipping tool comes in handy, as well (hit print scrn on the keyboard and it activates immediately.)
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
