Help With Windows MineSweeper Cheat!

Recommended Posts

Hi All..

I was browsing the net when I found this page (http://www.rickadams.org/adventure/c_xyzzy.html) with this interseting cheat for Minesweeper:

  Quote
There's a cheat code for Windows' "Minesweeper" game: type xyzzy, followed by ENTER and the right SHIFT key. Then a tiny dot will appear at the top left corner of the screen that will change color depending on whether the cursor is over a bomb or not.
I tried the cheat but didn't work.. I tried searching for it in some other sites that might provide more details and I foun this site (http://www.eggheaven2000.com/detailed/104.html):
  Quote
1: Start Minesweeper & type "xyzzy".

2: Draw the mouse across the blocks.

3: Go over a mine and the very top left-hand corner of the screen

will go black.

4: Place a flag on the spaces where this occurs.

5: Click on all other spaces as fast as possible to beat everyone else

And It didn't work!

I tried searching for another site and I found this (http://www.cheaterskrypt.com/pc/cheats/m/Minesweeper.shtml):

  Quote
When you start WINDOWS Minesweeper, type XYZZY and press RIGHT Enter key and LEFT

Shift Key. Then every time you have the cursor on a covered square with a mine, a pixel (very small) at the top right corner of the screen with be black.

And it didn't work!

Have you tried this cheat before? can you please give me some detailed steps? for example which (Enter) should I hit exactly? Which Shift? Should I hit them together? should I be pressing them while searching for the mine? Where will the dot appear exactly? Is it visible or it needs some concentration?

Thanks everybody!

Don't listen to that crap. Type xyzzy and hold control (left). The top left pixel will be white on no mine, and black on a mine.

hmmmm can you explain more please? cause it didn't work. I typed the thing then kept on holding the left Ctrl button. And I hovered the mouse over the boxes and I couldn't see any change.

Where is the pixel exactly? at the top of the window or at the top of the Mine Blocks? or at the top of the digits showing the numbers of mines left?

HellBender, it didn't work :(

The rest of the guys.. I am not cheating cause I never won the game! I am just trying to discover something new about a game that I have always been playing! Whats wrong in that!!

Thanks everybody.

1) minimize or close (up to you)all other screens u have

2) open minesweeper

3) type in "xyzzy" (no quotes)

4) hold left crtl and click on the face thing

5) hold down crtl and play the game (while cheating of course)

the pixel is at the VERY top left hand corner *note you may need to make ur screen size smaller*

*note you may need to use the magnifer if u cannot see it*

it wont let me post the pic

This is retarded...who needs to cheat in freaking minesweeper? If you want better times just change the highscore file...its a freaking .txt, not all that difficult :(

:ninja: i sympathise with ur comment, those that think they can possibly hav fun cheating in mindsweeper havn't had a good life and suggest they go to the beach fast and to GET A LIFE!

Actually, it is xyzzy <enter> <left-shift>.

Make sure the Minesweeper window is the active window when typing that. Then yes the top left pixel will be lit if it is a bomb I believe. Wow memories of Windows 3.1 cheating :)

    • It has only been about 2 years since Microsoft raised prices from $60 to $70! I don't think it's a good idea they are doing it again so soon. Instead of raising prices, manage game development budgets better.
    • Intel's 20-core Ultra 7 processor is now available with a massive discount by Taras Buria The Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, Intel's latest 20-core desktop processor, is getting more affordable. Now, the chip is available on Amazon with a 36% discount, saving you $144, which you can spend on a higher-spec graphics card, better cooling, a bigger SSD, or some new games. If you want to build a computer with the discounted Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, you will need a motherboard with the LGA 1851 socket and 800 series chipset. The Core Ultra 7 265K has 20 cores, 8 of which are performance cores, and 12 are efficiency cores operating at lower clocks for less demanding tasks. Performance cores have the maximum clock speed of 5.4GHz, while efficiency cores peak at 4.6GHz. However, the processor is unlocked, which means you can push those clocks higher if you have enough cooling and a motherboard that supports overclocking. Speaking of cooling, the processor has a TDP of 125W. A cooler is not included in the box, so do not forget to add one to your shopping cart. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265K has 30MB of level 3 cache (L3). It works with DDR5 memory (rated for 6,400 MT/s) and has a built-in graphics at 2GHz, which is enough for image output, media consumption, and all sorts of tasks that do not require a lot of GPU power. There is also a neural processing unit with 13 TOPS, which can handle on-device AI processing. • It's stuff like this countries like Denmark are giving up by switching to Linux. Good luck to them.
    • I think a big part of it is developers have grown themselves too big and ballooned their budgets. It's the only way to show endless growth to investors between releases. Then they make massive investments in games designed for the bottom line hoping players follow instead of designing them for the players and hoping the bottom line follow in the way smaller, indie developers do. This often causes the games to fail to hook players. Instead they need to streamline development, lower budgets and sales forecasts, actually listen to gamer feedback, realize that social media doesn't dictate real world gaming tastes and habits, and overall learn to adapt instead of regurgitating the same formulas over and over.
