The California Highway Patrol confirmed to The Verge that police responded to a two-vehicle incident on SR 35 in Palo Alto. No one involved in the crash suffered a major injury. According to Teslarati, the Cybertruck was driven by a Tesla engineer based in San Francisco.

In a statement to The Verge, California police said the following:

Quote

Our preliminary investigation indicates a Toyota Corolla was traveling south on SR-35 southbound, south of Page Mill Road, at an unknown speed, when the driver, for unknown reasons, turned to the right and subsequently struck a dirt embankment on the right shoulder. The Toyota then re-entered the roadway, crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, and crashed into a Tesla Cybertruck traveling north on SR-35 northbound.

The images posted to Reddit reveal significant damage to the Toyota Corolla’s front, while the Cybertruck appears relatively unscathed in comparison, despite the deployment of airbags.

That RAM pickup did crumple as designed; this is to absorb the impact of the crash.  It may not look pretty, but it's best to just never be in a collision, both vehicles have other hidden damage that might not be obvious immediately.

Today's mainstream pickups are not designed to be tanks, they are designed the same way other vehicles are, to protect the occupants in a collision.

Recently a Cybertruck was rear-ended by a RAM 1500 TRX pickup (supercharged V8 off-roader).

Wow...this 3 month old incident really got you all warm and fuzzy that you've had to post it in two seperate threads.

...a ~2002 Dodge Ram crumple zones did their job.  Wow.  Amazing.

I don't see you complaining about much older posts around here, example being the flooded battery from last year. Picky, picky.

What flooded battery?  I don't see a post in this Kamikaze Toyota thread about a flooded battery?

Oh this is a ###### joke - seeing as how picky you can be with news, polls, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if the insurance companies doesn't jack up the rates when insuring these trucks for the amount of damage they create.

Many drivers are buying Tesla Insurance. Their certified shops have the facilities. Cheaper too,

Seeing as how Tesla seem to play it loose and easy with their honoring of warrantees, I wouldn't truth their insurance as far as... well as far as the MuskMobile can travel on a 30 minute charge.  Which isn't far.  Because it's crap!

Auto insurance is mostly regulated at the state level, and they have to jump jump through loops to get certified. It's really no different than General Motors and OnStar insurance.

Except its not a RAM 1500 TRX.

No comment @DocM? You were trying to make it a bigger deal saying it was a “RAM 1500 TRX pickup (supercharged V8 off-roader)”.

That was what some of the reports said it was. Either way, it's a big RAM.

Well that just goes to show that you don’t fact check the stuff you post.

Obviously.  But there are good insurers who don't try to get out of paying out, and then there are others...  You know this, which makes your post pointless.

    • Hi everyone, I'm planning a small network upgrade and was wondering how others prepare their networks for future needs. Do you usually invest in higher-speed switches and better cabling from the start, or do you upgrade only when necessary? I'd be interested in hearing what has worked well for you and any lessons you've learned over time. Thanks!
