Lost Remington Pf7200 shaver power cord and avoiding forced obsolescence

Recommended Posts

i somehow lost the power adapter to my Remington Pf7200 shaver, and of course the power adapter is proprietary in that they changed the connector housing so only their adapters work in it.

I've been looking around online, but I am not quite sure if I can even find the right replacement, there is very little joy for net adapter Pf7200 except on American sites (I live in Europe) but the ones I found are all around 20 euros excl delivery (so 26.95) a bit of a gamble to not know for sure.

Instead I just ordered a new/sealed Remington shaver out of the "Pro series" (normally €80) that I found on eBay https://www.ebay.nl/itm/276292454958

It's a bit of a gamble, but I think the cable fits in my Pf7200 too which is a lesser version of the same product line, and was around €50 new if I recall correctly.

So now I've spent €39.90 (9.90 is delivery) and will have two shavers and (hopefully) one power cable between them 😛

The Pro version looks quite nice, and you it can be used while it is charging (not possible with my Pf7200).

I'll try to remember to update when it is delivered from Italy to The Netherlands!

In 2024, there is absolutely no need for this level of household electronics to have proprietary chargers. I feel your pain!

It's all about Nickle and Diming the average Joe in a Capitalist system.

In other words, it's Capitalism working at it's finest.

I can relate.  I have a trimmer from a company called Brio.

It has a cord with a USB-A plug on one end and a proprietary plug on the other end.

I misplaced the cord... probably because I assumed it was a normal USB cable when I was doing decluttering.  I have tons of old USB cables so I was trying to get rid of some.

And wouldn't you know it... as soon as I ordered a replacement charging cable from Brio... I found the original cable.  D'oh!

I still have two other razors/trimmers from Philips and Braun.  I wish everything would move to USB-C

I would try ebay. There is some used models for $13 (US)  that come with a power cord.

I'm not in the U.S. so I also have to pay for intl shipping which brings it up over $40.

Well Remington can also go on the list of s*it companies. They even have different connectors for their own shavers, in the same series!!!!!! 😡

I mean, I'd expect a young person to think like that.
But you seem who has seen several full months.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for standard connectors but so says it's capitalism at it's finest....no

May I invite you be part of manufacture process  in a industrial level. Also get to know some folks in the electronic fields.
Pretty sure there are associations/organizations in your state/city  like for example the Department of Commerce where you can have a 1 on 1 with several industries and actually know how they operate.
Time to read more and actually get to know other things beside IT.

If I can find that in my home town in Monterrey, Mexico, pretty sure you can find something.

    • Payday TWO!! Is 13 years old man I feel old - I remember trying it out and if I did not know I would say 5-6 years ago or something
    • Payday 2 engine upgrade adds 64-bit and DX11 support, drastically shrinks install size by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Payday 2, the most popular entry in the heisting game franchise, is getting a surprising update after all these years. This is slated to be a complete engine upgrade that will enhance almost every aspect of the 13-year-old title, targeting performance, loading times, file size, rendering backend, and more. Developer Sidetrack Games is planning a beta to test out the new version ahead of the full public launch. The development team today revealed that the long-awaited upgrade to the 64-bit architecture is happening with this Diesel 3.0 engine update. By letting the game use more ram than 4GB, it is said to improve stability and compatibility on most hardware. It should also help modders in the long term with implementing larger changes too. "While many of the changes are made on the backend and not everything will be visible to you guys because it is a massive rewrite of the entire codebase, there will be a lot of things that you can look forward to," Sidetrack explained. Payday 2 will also hop over from DirectX 9 to 11. Instead of visual improvements, this is slated to reduce the amount of VRAM used by the title, letting more lower-end hardware access the title and run it better. Since these changes would require a complete redownload of the game anyway, Sidetrack says it has revamped "the game's packaging and bundling system." This should reduce the installation size from 86GB to 32GB. "So, now it's time to finally move the game to your SSDs," added the studio. The Payday 2 Diesel Engine 3.0 update is entering open beta on June 30 for Steam users. No console release plans were announced today. Sidetrack Games says it has been working on this complete rewrite of the codebase for the last nine months. While these changes should break most mods, the studio encouraged modders to use the beta period to repair their creations with support from the development team.
