My newest app, created with ChatGPT, is for Emailing Caller ID info and hanging up on spam. It works great with the 2 USBS modems I have.

Back in 2007, I started using a program called Ezvoice. I was still using it until a few days ago. It records caller ID info, emails it to a Google account, and hangs up on spam, which you've added to a list. It does what this app does, but one thing about Ezvoice has always annoyed me. It can't block by name, just by numbers. Sometimes, I would get calls from the same caller ID name but completely random numbers.

So I created this CallerID display app, which scratched all my itches.

CallerID Display Features

  • Records the caller ID information of a call
  • Emails the Caller ID information.
  • Has a spam list that lets you add caller ID info to spam
  • Has an Address book, which lets you import CSV files. It also has column mapping.
  • Automatically hangs up on people in your spam list if they match, Name, Number (or a range of numbers) or both.
  • Pushbullet support. Caller ID notifications to computers running pushbullet.
  • No install required
  • Everything is contained in the folder you run it from

A push bullet notification.

This is a photo of it running on my Windows 7 voicemail server that has been up for 1,500+ days. It also works on Windows 11, too

Also included with the app is another app I call "CallerID Companion."

It looks like the other app, but you can run this app on any Windows 7 or higher computer on your network or any computer connected to your network via a VPN. In the options menu, you point to the shared network folder the main app is located in.

CallerID Companion Features

  • See the call list
  • Clear the call list
  • Add calls to the spam list
  • Add address book entries
  • Fullscreen mode, which lets you see LARGE caller ID information full screen on a monitor

CallerID Companion 1.3 July 29th, 2024

  • Fix: Now when you modify the address book or the spam folder the watchdog does not update all the JSON files, just the file you updated. If you had the call companion full screen on 1 computer and modified the address book or spam folder on call companion on another computer it would send a watchdog on calls.json which would cause the last phone number to show up full screen on the other computer. A restart off the app would have been required to get it working again.

CallerID Companion 1.1 July 19th, 2024

  • New: I added Settings to the options menu to let you set the color, text size, number display format, and spam display format for the full-screen mode. As seen in the screenshot above.
  • New: When opening the app, it first prompts you to locate your primary callerID Email and block folder. It also prompts you if the one specified cannot be found.

CallerID Email and Block Version 1.5.1 July 19th, 2024

  • Updated: It now stores the setting in a file called calleridsettings.json instead of settings.json
  • Fixed: It no longer errors out if no com port settings are not found in the json file.

CallerID Email and Block Version 1.5 July 17th, 2024

  • New: Added Watchdog support for modified files to support "CallerID Companion."
  • New: Bundled a new App CallerID companion

Version 1.1 July 10th, 2024

  • New: Added Pushbullet Support

Version 1.0 July 9th, 2024 First release

    • Getting so tired of this push for that new useless slop over the less-useless old slop that at this point I just want M$ to have this nice, big, hearty cup of *FU*.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.168 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. • Thanks Microsoft but no, I find both iterations of Outlook terrible nowadays and switched back to Thunderbird at home.
    • Happens to the best of us, bro. 😛
