dazzla and saint.

its explorer, using a fake bitmap in registry (backbitmapshell thing).

download the brushed 3.5 visual style from the link i provided. it includes the fake bitmaps there.

about the hd icon, yes its samurize, i forgot to mention.

and i removed the menu bar using a registry hack made by someone in neowin (i forgot his name).

here we go the registry hack.

Where do I get that harddrive samurize? Where do I go to hack it, and change the bitmaps?

Just a quick pic of what I'm sportin right now. Nothin' fancy at all, can be bothered to be changin icons, and windows classic is just that, a classic!

Can you give a link to that mod of windows classic, i love the start button, and can I have a link to the wallpaper as well? Thanks!

Yeah, it's really good. I was expecting to find it in his DA gallery, and was upset when I couldn't. Hope he lets you release it

only takes a couple of minutes of photohop work to clean radish's screenshot and turn it into a wallpaper. I did it and it looks fine since radish is kind enough to post a nice 1280x1024 screenshot. ;)

But if you post it I won't be a happy person, I've yet to get permission from Silveryn for releasing my wallpaper.

Radish?

Well, all your desktops look really pretty. But what can you do with them, with those big powerful Athlons and ****?

Here's my old P3 866 playing Ghost In the Shell, burning an SVCD, and encoding two other SVCD's, all while I'm typing this. Note the CPU usage and the uptime :-) Of course, I have 9 other desktops, with my mail client, browser, donkey client, RSS news aggregator, PDF viewer and file manager running, but I'm not gonna post 10 screens...LOL!

BTW, I hope you all have fun with XP SP2 ;-)

you remind me of those guys who buy badass sports cars and do nothing but drive them around town to show how super1337 they are, but don't realize that nobody else in town cares.

This is kinda hilariuos.. You signup two days ago... You post two messages... the second one is to slam everyone else in the forum... Hmmm Go figure.... BTW - What exactly is your point? :(

Well I for one happen to enjoy XP and will very much enjoy SP2. joehill, I say one thing to you: If you want to flame, buy a lighter.

Anyway, here's my desktop. I posted a few months ago saying that no matter how many times I changes styles, I always end up back at reluna. Granted, other styles may have lasted a little longer than they used to, but in the end, reluna still owns me. Click for 1280x1024 png.

    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
