Carson Palmer won a starting job. The Bengals promoted Palmer ahead of quarterback Jon Kitna on Monday, placing their future in the hands of a Heisman Trophy winner who has yet to take a snap in the NFL. Will Palmer Do good next season... i dont think so, i would let him sit another year. What do you guys think of this switch?

If you use a high pick and a bunch of cash to get a guy, you might as well play him. If they hope for Palmer to be the future of the franchise, they need him to get all the experience he can. I don't think he will do as good starting out as Kitna did last season though.

Which, ironically, he leaves college, and his college team then wins the National Championship. Ummm..Carson Palmer? You will be a "has been" very very soon.

dude. the bungles may be on to something.

i wonder if they woulda done better with him starting this season.

anyways, boog, you may be right. the last good heisman winning qb i can recall is either ty detmer (90) or vinnie testicleverde (86).

oh... add on to the fact that heisman qb's dont do dick in the nfl... he will more than likely have a sophomore slump even tho he didnt play as a rookie.

Just listened to the local news in Cincinnati. Apparently, a lot of people think of this to be a good move. Only a few (that they showed) seemed to disapprove of Palmer. Looks like Kitna will be the backup. ESPN also reports that Kitna has agreed to restructure his contract and that he is willing to play second fiddle to Palmer.

kitna wasnt all that great to begin with.. i dont know that they should have named palmer starter right away though, i think they should have let them compete for it in camp and preseason.. i dont think palmer will ever be anything special either

atleast some experience is better than nothing.

Yeah its better. That way, a post season distraction is taken off the bench. it is better to do this now rather than be like St.Louis where there are now 2 QB's. Guess who will start next season??

Camp and preseason is not a big indicator of what you can do in the postseason.

their performance last year wont have as much effect as previously thought though.. this is going to be a lot like a rebuilding year with a brand new QB.. it really doesnt make sense for them to just change all of a sudden like that.. kitna didnt do anything to warrant losing the job

I understand the move but you have to feel bad for Kitna. He went out there last year knowing they had spent a top pick on a top college QB....and he played his a** off. He had an awesome year. Only to have it taken from him. Glad to see him taking it like a pro, though. Hopefully the Bengals will deal him to a team that can let him start.

Always remember when guys like this know that their future with the team is short, they are effectively auditioning for other teams. Is Kitna going to be able to relocate? He had a great 2nd half last year, earned me quite a few fantasy points.

    • My wish list is: A trailer for Final Fantasy VII part 3 and a proper look at Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Not happening, but I'd kill for would be another game of any genre in the Frostpunk world and another game in the Detroit: Become Human world.
    • I tried Wino-Mail and had the same issue with it that I have with New Outlook: My two centurylink.net email accounts (one of which is my primary email account) refuse to work with either one, and sometimes refuse to even log in, even though ALL the relevant information is accurate. Thunderbird does not have this problem, so I'll stick with what works, thank you.
    • For me it has everything feature wise that I want. But boy the app sucks big time. This and Teams. Ever since they made the transition to WebView it has been slow AF. I mostly use both apps in the browser now because of too much memory being used by these 2 apps. Hoping that native versions are being worked upon.
    • Nearly 70% of Steam users now run Windows 11 by Taras Buria The May 2026 Steam Hardware & Software Survey results are now available on the official Steam website, showing Windows 11's continuous growth among the gaming audience. As of early June 2026, nearly 70% of all participants reported having a Windows 11-powered PC, while Windows 10's market share is steadily declining. According to Valve, in May 2026, Windows 11 increased its market share to 69.76% (+2.02 points), while Windows 10 dropped to 23.99% (-1.64 points). 64-bit Windows 7 is still showing up in Valve's reports, and apparently, about 0.07% of all survey participants still use the 17-year-old operating system. Valve no longer updates its client for Windows 7, but it still can access the platform, so the Windows 7 holdouts can stay away from newer Windows versions. Overall, 93.85% of all users run Windows (+0.38 points), while Linux is second with 3.99% (-0.53 points). macOS is third with at 2.16% (+0.15 points). The most popular Linux flavor is Arch Linux (0.35%), while macOS 26.4.1 is currently the dominant macOS release. On the hardware side, the most popular picks include an Intel processor (53.94% against AMD's 46.06%) with six cores (28.02%, -0.6 points), 16 GB of memory (41.14%, -0.28 points), and an NVIDIA graphics card (72.42%, with AMD having 19.13% and Intel 8.05%). The most popular graphics card on Steam is the desktop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (3.85%, -0.14 points), while the laptop RTX 4060 is second with 3.77%, and the RTX 3050 is third with 3.10%. The average amount of VRAM is 8GB (25.89%), and the dominant display resolution is the classic 1920x1080 pixels (51.89%, -0.32 points). As usual, you can find more details from the latest survey on the official website. The results for April 2026 are available here.
