What was the last movie you watched?

2024 Thread is here

So far I've watched two movies during Apple TV's free weekend (Jan 3-Jan 5)

GreyhoundIMDB

8 out of 10.  Intense movie which wasn't drawn out or sidetracked by irrelevant bs (fairly short at just over 90 mins).

Fly me to the Moon, IMDB

5 out of 10.  Started off strong and I was liking it.  However, towards and during the third act...this movie just started sucking.  Guess it was supposed to be a RomCom ... but lacked the Rom and the Com.  Unlike Greyhound...this one was drawn out way too long.

The End IMDB

2 out of 10

Instead of watching this, take a crap in a toilet and then stare at it for 148 minutes and make up a song about it on the spot.

The song you create will be more catchy than anything in this film.

Watch The Greatest Showman instead.

My GF and I watched it in 4 viewings, 3 of which I started to fall asleep during.

I watched Gladiator 2 last night.  The first one is a solid 8 or 8.5, this one is around a 7 IMO.  You never quite feel the same way for the MC like you did in the original.

Just finished watching The Naked Gun.

I'm impressed. One of the few comebacks/reboots where I've thought that they nailed it. I was laughing the whole time at the old-school comedy, and Liam Neeson was Drebin's kid through and through.

I watched both Prey and Alien Romulus recently. I thought overall Prey was better, but Romulus was pretty close too.

It has decent reviews

TBF it only has good ratings from RT critics. Most others seem to think it's okayish

See, for me Prey was alright because it continued branching out into a new idea of Predator, but there was something wonting for me. I think Predators did a better job of being part of the series. Maybe it felt more like a B-movie than Prey tried to be.

I thought Romulus was great, although that was because it was a rehash of the original Alien film but designed for a younger generation. All of the tropes were there, I had good fun.

But hey, it's all subjective. Something works for some people and not others. 🤷‍♂️

The last "full" movie I watched watched was after Thanksgiving dinner, John Wick: Ballerina.

Very fun movie, especially loved the flame thrower duel.

Oh, I keep meaning to watch that! Ana de Armas and an action flick, I'm going to love it.

I started watching One Battle After Another. It was not was I was expecting, so I needed to stop and I'll maybe get back to it at some point...
