Speed question (wired vs wireless)

On my wired connection, I get ~200 down speed, yet on the wireless system is maxes out at 30, which is higher than the cell phone is currently reporting (all testing done via speedtest.net) the phone and Wi-Fi adapter are both on the 2.4 GHz network. I am wondering if this is about what I should be expecting, or is the wireless speed slower than it should be?

2.4 is going to be slower than 5.. But what do you have for client - does it have 1 stream or 2 streams..

1 stream with 20mhz VHT is a like 65 PHY.. This is not what you would see in real world.. Rule of thumb is 50% of that, maybe 60% on a good day, etc

So if you are seeing around 30Mbps real world over 1 stream on 2.4 ghz with 20 vht you are seeing what you should expect. Your not going to get 200mbps over 2.4 wifi even using 40mhz channels - which is not really supported.. But you could try doing that and 400ns guard and your client is capable of 2 streams.. The max PHY is 300, so roughly 1/2 of that puts you at 150ish mbps the max you could hope for.

What is your client - maybe it only supports 1 stream.. Can it not do 5ghz?

You need to provide more details here - router make/model, your network setup, devices you're testing on, etc.
