Windows profile migration

Question

Hello all. I am not sure if this is the correct place for this post if not I apologize in advance. I have inherited an nightmare of a situation and I am trying to figure out the best way to work through it.  I have 2 domains that are not joined. I want to maintain 2 separate domains and the people who setup the active directory had no idea what they were doing. Both domains have generic user profiles that the users are currently using as a local profile on the desktops. I have created organizational units in Active Directory and have added new users using firstname.lastname schema. I need to be able to login as the new user and copy all of the profile data, documents, desktop shortcuts, browser history and all to the new user profiles. All machines have VNC so I can connect remotely but would really like a tool to automate the process some without breaking the bank. Any ideas ?
