In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.

Yep, it's a remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

I'm sort of ok with it. I've felt it's about time for this movie to be remade. The previous one was released 1987 before MTV Real World and all the other reality tv shows came around.

So this movie was due for a remake. I just hope Arnold gets a callback/homage to his version.

Kinda intrigued, because as someone said before, we now live in a world where the original holds more weight than it did at the time insofar as reality TV and so on - so am keen to see if this embraces that - or is just a cash-in.

The trailer is not terrible BUT... given how different this is to the original movie, why not just make this its own thing?

The premise has potential, especially in the current "drone heavy, cameras everywhere" world. They could even turn this into a franchise, instead of just piggy backing on the name of the original.

As per, https://gamerant.com/edgar-wright-running-man-look-different-arnold-schwarzenegger-stephen-king-story/  The remake is more true to the Stephen Kings story than the original movie.
