It comes just weeks after the Black Sabbath star took to the stage one final time with his band mates at Villa Park in Birmingham.

He died "surrounded by love", a statement from his family said on Tuesday night.

The family said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.

"Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis."

RIP Prince... for over 50 years you entertained us, brought us musicians that wowed the masses... you brought us into your home, your world and your loving insanity for life itself.

You'll never be truly gone, because you'll be with us for the rest of our own lives.

I think he was one of those people who it's fair to label as "iconic" if not "massively influential".  I wasn't ever really a fan of that subgenre of rock music, but you can hear his/Sabbath's influence ring down through the decades of rock since.  I also dislike the reinvention aspect of how it's tried to repaint his utterly vile wife as a "says it as it is" celebrity, and him as a bit of a doddering old fool - because he clearly wasn't THAT doddering or foolish based upon his appearances outside playing that role.

Massive respect to someone who shaped the sound of some of my favourite bands, there's no denying he absolutely lived a life!

Tell Randy we said hello! Oh, and Elvis, Jimi, John, Janice, Jim, Duane, and a bunch of others I can't remember.

Man, what a legend. I know a lot of you don't like social media but the outpouring on the platforms has been really something else.

He's one of those people where everyone respected in the entertainment industry. We were lucky enough to be alive when he took the world on his journey.
