Bans due to launching games on ReFS

Your just missing the forest for the tree's.

They don't support the file system, it sounds like you tripped the cheat detection, and you will have to go back to what's officially supported to be able to play the game. In addition, I highly suspect the frustration / tone you have probably rubbed their support the wrong way and will be needing to buy and new copy / use a new account.

Most game developers using anti-cheat won't consider the new file system until Microsoft officially allows (at best) as the boot drive in the consumer version of Windows, or at worst make it the default file system on clean installs.

But why do we need to do this, and why does no one want to pressure them so that they finally see and acknowledge their mistakes? And mainly I only see attempts at ragebait here, and accusations of things that did not happen. Everything should be stated explicitly, rather than with vague formulations that need to be interpreted. Yes, and most developers are actually showing that their anti-cheats behave adequately in this case. Or then all my games on the account would have been banned already, but that's not the case. And again, for some reason, VAC and EAC do not get triggered in different environments, yet here a multibillion-dollar company behaves so rudely.

Well, it seems that people have forgotten that they have rights and that no one can stand up for each other, evidently also unable to defend themselves. Just letting things take their course and allowing such companies to violate any boundaries.

Yeah, I'm not buying that.  I don't believe you have told the full story here at all.  Moreover, even if you have, the way you tell it hardly suggests any support would think "Easy guy to work with, let's help him resolve his issues".

YOU agreed to the EULA
YOU chose to use a filesystem that is hardly "conventional" and would be very likely to trigger a problem
YOU stated that bans are for repeat offenders

I agreed to what is stated there. I chose the file system that works the fastest and better than others. For the sake of these games, I made an upgrade and in return received a ban without reason, the appeal is ignored, and none of the support services help. I provided all the evidence and repeated everything with the help of friends. If you don't believe the direct facts, then I don't know what else to add. And in these agreements, there is not a word about file systems. Just like with environments, or people should also take responsibility and somehow have figured out that a ban on Wine and Proton is normal. It's interesting how everyone positions themselves to blame only the victims for all the problems, but not those who created all the conditions for this and remain silent about them. The existence of this bug is proven not only by me. And it is a bug because it occurs only in 1 game, while in others it does not lead to a permanent ban. But what can we say about the quality of the anti-cheat if people are getting permanently banned for a blue screen. All I want is for the label of cheaters to be removed from me and my friends, because we are not such.

Well then, just take and repeat all the actions, all the evidence is ready.

No thanks, enjoy your ban. My favorite part is not only did you try it, but you also tried it multiple times.

Bottom line is youre trying to play on an unsupported configuration and you will receive no sympathy from Activision or anyone here until you return to a supported configuration. Feel free to submit a feature request to their support team in the meantime until it is supported.

I agree that it sucks that it is not supported but there's nothing we can do here short of applying for a job at activision and working internally to verify support for ReFS.

"A little knowledge is a dangerous thing"

Sorry, what you mean is "I tinkered, didn't think through how my actions would affect some (pretty obvious) things, and now don't want to take ownership - so I'll tell some half truths on a number of forums where I can play the victim".

What rights are you referring to here exactly?

Not sure...this is the only thing I can come up for him...other than that, no rights were violated that I could tell.  Even if he was to sue, I am sure Activision lawyers would demonstrate how he violated some sort of EULA by using an unsupported file system. ohh well

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here.  You're trying so hard to sway everyone to your side.  What is the end goal?  For all of Neowin to rise up and punish Activision for their transgressions?

Even if you could garner sympathy here, which you don't seem to having much luck in accomplishing, do you really think Activision would unban the accounts because we agree with you?  I'm guessing not.

Time to move on and just go play a game.

    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
