Life 2025 and beyond.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I very often still visit the site, but due to life happenings I don’t post very much, or as much as I would like to. A lot of life has happened since my last posts, and I could share if anyone wants to hear about it. Maybe some of you could either sympathize, or maybe even offer greater support and insight. Maybe even encouragement at this time.  I signed up for this site in 2003 fresh out of High School in 2002. Well last year, I had a falling out with an Ex of 4yrs, In the middle of that, I was diagnosed with Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy, which makes life’s functions very difficult to control and maneuver.  I was told that I could possibly have Lumbar, and Thoracic as well, but I ended up with Surgery on my Cervical from it. However with all that being said and done, I have a hard time getting around and doing.  I ended up selling my inheritance(my house) because I was without a ride in working order.  And now I am told today that I may end up losing everything else that I may have because my storage space doesn’t want to help me in my circumstances.  I have tried for disability insurance, but due to our government issues no one can give any information.  What would anyone do In my situation? Who doesn’t want to have to completely start over with nothing? Especially all his years of collecting Software CD-Roms?

Sorry to hear about that. It's a shame Americans keep voting for a system that throws you away when you're at your most vulnerable in so far that those same people have to rely on Gofundme's and the kindness of strangers :(

Hope you are able to get some help!

You can bet that I did not vote for any of that!

I hope that you feel better soon.

I am sorry for what you have faced and are living with. Don't give up on the disability. I guess it depends on what state you're in as here in Florida, it's not hard at all to get on disability as long as your issue is legitimate and yours clearly is. I have friends that are on it and still work part time jobs as long as they don't make over a certain amount, it doesn't affect there disability check.

Have you been here? https://www.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/index.htm

If you don't mind, what state are you in? If you don't want to say here, PM me. I'll try to do some research.

Yes I have, I have already applied and been waiting 2.5years since. I live mostly out of my car right now. I use my nephews home for hygiene and address on file and things. But that’s all that he helps with. I am the last of 10, 3 of my siblings have passed but the remainder don’t really care what happens to me.

I'm sorry it happened and other than providing moral applause I would recommend a "life coach".
Here's the thing, you ain't dead yet...you still got a ton in you.

Will it be easy? nah it won't....will you overcome it? hell yeah you can!
Who said to be unstoppable you have to walk/run like the rest?
Being unstoppable comes in many shapes and sizes.

Though I'm not in the same physical condition, I did once try to take my life away and thought about it for many years.
And yet here I am...

Another recommendation is start to read, get your mind off your injury.
People pay for what you know and can do. It'll be your next income, though gotta study a lot. Viva the internet, you can know people from different professions and you will learn something other people won't.

And lastly a shoutout for everyone, as a financial advisor former IT guy.
Everyone should REALLLYY consider your financial situation for your future. This is just one of many things life will punch you hard. Don't spend all your money when you start earning it.
Protip, don't get advice from social media/internet get advice from someone who has the credentials to back it up.

I just want to thank everyone for all the kind words and encouragement, I am grateful to everyone who has been here talking with me. Sometimes all we need is a friend to help steer us towards the right direction.  This is what community is all about.  Just being part of this community since 2003, has been amazing! I have learned a lot over the years, and I will continue to do so. Many thanks to Admin, and the founders of Neowin! I give much thanks!

    • It's time to say goodbye to Edge and switch back to Firefox. There's no way to disable the ugly rounded corners that appear everywhere. Not even on the page frame. No one uses screens with rounded corners, you idiots.
    • Being on Github makes it more trustable since I can see the code at any point.
    • Gen Atlas is the next game from Shadow of the Colossus creator, this time with giant robots by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The mind behind widely well-received games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, showed up at Summer Game Fest today, and that was to reveal his latest project. Being developed by genDESIGN, Gen Atlas is incoming with what looks to be plenty of mech and robot action. Watch the reveal trailer, which makes not much sense, above. The game will have players waking up on an abandoned planet where deserted facilities and grand designs from the original creators remain. Soon, they will stumble upon a colossal robot, from which players gain access to the power to change the world. "Across an endless expanse of time, the remnants of those forgotten constructs begin to move once more," adds the studio. The gameplay snippets seen in the trailer show the player character climbing giant robots (as expected from the creator), while also controlling these titans somehow as well. This is a fully single-player open-world adventure. “The team and I are grateful to all the fans who’ve been eager to learn more about our game,” says Fumito Ueda, CEO and creative director of genDESIGN. “Their passion and enthusiasm has always motivated and inspired us. We hope to share an experience that inspires moments of quiet wonder and discovery.” Before gaining the name Gen Atlas, Ueda first announced this project back in 2024 with the codename Project Robot. Interestingly, this will be a project being funded and published by Epic Games, which should mean that a Steam release is out of the question. Gen Atlas will be releasing on Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • How backwards can you have it? Yes, Linux was gaining because of Linux handhelds and the push for gaming compatibility, but that's not desktop users, it barely converts anyone who owns a SteamDeck, though it helps for those who wanted to do it, but anyways, the AI+RAM debacle helped Linux because people can't easily upgrade their PCs easily and many hate AI so they'd be incentivized to try Linux.
