Affinity Apps are now free.... Mostly.

Question

If you want to escape the Adobe ecosystem and want to give them the finger, Affinity is the way to go.

https://www.affinity.studio/

They have apps for Windows, Mac and iPad. The only equivalent app they do not have is for lightroom (😭).

If you do leave adobe, be really careful because they will demand you pay a fee to do it unless your sub is up.

No iPad version yet. About a month ago they stopped selling Designer 2, Photo 2 and Publisher 2 but let people get the iPad versions free.  I don't know if they stopped doing that when the new version came out.

Adobe's cancellation fee is for those who got an annual subscription but chose to pay monthly instead, they also offer a monthly subscription that one can cancel at any time, but its price per month is higher of course.

I don't really have a need for programs that elaborate, but I find it great that Affinity went freemium! From what I read, some people were anxious about them going the subscription route when they took down their products from the stores and froze their forums. It must be because of Canva, this would be kind of a loss leader for them in hopes to get more people into their ecosystem.

I know where to go if I ever need it, with a bit of luck they add light mode to it.
