It is really funny to see how many ppl hammer the server.

The server is setup that you can only login 1 time per IP. It will say No more connection allowed for this IP  if you try more than once.

If you try to connect more than 3 times within 30 secs, you will get banned automatically.

Set retries to 120secs.

There are 6 accounts

3 for user: auto / pass: patcher

&

3 for user: autopatcher / pass: rarfiles

I dont want to be an @ss, I'm helping here, but if you get banned, you will have to wait til the server unban you, I wont do it.

Like I said before, I dont have the greatest speed, I'm on DSL, but I'm hosting to help.

Thanks for your patience

My download was corrupt from the HTTP mirror I downloaded it from

Have you (Flishfun and Raptor) considered applying to be mirrored by Planet Mirror?

http://public.www.planetmirror.com/request/

You'ld seriously need to get a dedicated host or offer Autopatcher downloads primarily by P2P to be able to satisfy demand for it! :o

And BTW:

https://www.neowin.net/autopatcher/ is out of date

did you dl from mine? b/c I changed some settings and the web server had to restart quickly, I was also hosting the Jan release on BT, I kinda like BT more :p

it was from http://ztcdesign.com/ap/AutoPatcherXP_Feb04_Full.exe and it only got up to 71.0 MB (74,547,200 bytes) before it stopped.

edit:/ erp that's you, oh well no biggie, I'll just download from eMule.

welp I just did a clean XP Pro install and

ran APXP Feb'04

lost the ability to defrag..won't even analyze

XP start menu config is hosed

webcam is showing up in network connections

and that's just for starters

[edit]oh also I can't play avi or get WMP to play a mp3 without crashing too

and I get blue screens when I try to turn ICF on[/edit]

THIS IS A FRESH CLEAN INSTALL that I installed APXP Feb '04 on and

this hasn't EVER happened to me before

and it shouldn't be happening now

Edited by StAnGeR04
so what do you think it is then Raptor?

if I have to reinstall XP again I will

but if I don't have to I'd rather not

StAnGeR04, I might as well ask... you *did* have SP1 already installed before you ran the AutoPatcher, right?

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
