Have had Plex running for years... since they went more paywall, am running Emby & Jellyfin now as well side by side with plex... still comparing / testing... so far, Emby takes the lead... just annoyed with a few bits that arent configurable... but am hopeful some nice bits that Plex has get introduced in the next major build of Emby...

So mostly use either of the media server types i have installed for movies/tv shows & music on thier respective apps. Occasionally use Winamp (mainly to see how the new winamp is coming along 😛

Recommend moonfin as an android TV client for jellyfin

I store my movies full size on the local NAS and play them on the TV with Infuse on AppleTV or modded Ugoos player for Profile 7 FEL from Kodi. For video on the PC usually CyberLink PowerDVD and for Audio usually Audials. Video on Mac is Video Village Screen.

Yeah like a few others, I'm using Plex for both server and playback (on an Apple TV). Bought their lifetime access a few years ago and haven't looked back since!

I use Plex for the media server and Kodi for the front end.

To give a bit more detail I'm using PlexKodiConnect to integrate my Plex library with Kodi.

I have a couple of mini PC's that run LibreELEC, so essentially boot really fast, directly in to Kodi and are then controlled by the Windows Media Center remotes Microsoft used to sell.

The Plex backend is much better than trying to keep Kodi in sync with SMB shares and a MySQL database, however I feel Kodi is a better frontend compared to Plex's HTPC software. So best of both worlds :)

Plex Server & Plex Client(s) - Own life time pass when it was on sale years ago.

Also - "Media Player Classic Home Cinema" that's bundled with the klite codex.

To be honest, the "new" Windows 11 audio & video player apps are pretty solid, especially when you add all the free Media Foundation codecs for the Windows Store- https://codecguide.com/media_foundation_codecs.htm

Synology NAS Backend, Running docker containers for Emby server and other related stuff, it store all my movies, tv and tuner setup(dispatcharrr).

Clients are android TV with the Emby client or kodi using the 1080p theme as it is quite user friendly. I also use the emby's, kodi plugin to sync the content and it works great.

It a lot less power hungry and easier to use than what I had a couple of years ago with windows media centre and windows server!
