Maybe you should have a look at some reviews and see what other people think or maybe find a youtube video.

My only issue with the printers are the toner cartridges, my printer as i said is getting on a bit now and is before the days that Brother decided to do what other companies do and chip the cartridges, to try and get you to buy their toner.
I have had a look online and some people are saying don't update the firmware, not sure if that will make a difference.
I also noticed that compared to my printer, the price of toners is more expensive, from sticky ink, which is who I use, my Hl-3150CDW toner is £113 for the set of high capacity toners, for the Brother MFC-L3760CDW  it is around £196 for all 4.

The price per page is not a lot different due to the black toner having a high capacity than mine, but you need to look at that as well.

As I said, I get my toner from Stinky Ink, when need to replace the ink in my inkjet I will use them for that as well. Not sure if i will use compatible s for the inkjet.
Stinky ink toners are very good and they give you a good guarantee, they may cost a bit more than what you may get on amazon, but may be worth it.

Anyway, link

Just something for you to look at.

i bought my printer in 2013 but your def right, the toner is quite pricey. good to know myself since i'm going to be purchasing a new printer soon as well, one with a feed to scan. thanks!

What you have to look at is price per page,  My HL-3150CDW is £83.80 for the full set from stinky ink, works out at 1.25p per page, from stinky ink. THS is how they work it out Running Cost
This value is calculated from manufacturer's estimates of how many pages a cartridge will print, and should only be used to compare cartridge running costs.

I was going to buy the ink for the ink-jet from them, but I want to buy Epson own ink and stinky ink is a bit more expensive than from other places for that, but their own toner great.

Ink/toner have gone up a lot over the last year or 2, I presume the war in, Iran don't help., if you want to call it a war,  we won't get into that.

Care to elaborate? I've been using HP devices since the 2000s. Never had a problem.

HP inkjet printers have had a bad name over the years, I know a few people who had them and the majority have had problems. I saw a Deskjet 400 fall apart while printing and it was not that old, cogs, and wheels fell out.  LOL.

Saying that, my sister-in-law had one for years and it was fine, if a little pricey to run. My next door neighbour have one according to the wi-fi on my phone, a HP-envy 5000 series by all accounts. Been there for around 3 years and she look after kids for other people, so it must be in use a lot.

So there are some that lasts.

Laser printers are different, HP laser printers last for years, or they did.

Their scanners are great, I have a HP scanjet 7650, over 10 years old and still work fine, but it does need a new roiller, if i can get one.

What about this one Guys? I read the reviews of brother, and the print ink is expensive.

This Epson one reviews are good. And the ink prices are low.

I was asking for his reasoning. Everybody hates or loves it. Inkjets are a joke, but toners are great.

I thought you wanted a laser?

I have qa EpsonEcotank, but it is a higher end one than what you are looking at. It works fine, the quality is great, but the text is not so sharp as the Brother, but it prints photos better on photo paper.
The one you linked too will also print better photo on photo paper.

At the end of the day it is still an inkjet and will suffer from the same problems that inkjet do. Slow at printing in high quality, uses ink to keep cleaning the head, that is why they stop now and again while printing and wipe the head. If not used for a while will dry up unless you do a nozzle check on them now and again.,

As I said, look at the cost per page and the cost they have there will be the lowest quality

Saying all of that, if you think it will do what you need then go for it. I only went back to inkjet because I wanted to print photos, other wise i would have stayed with the laser only.

Epson printers are better than when i had them years agao in the days of the stylus range, saying that my ET8550 is a £700 machijne and parts still seem to be cheap looking.

There is nothing wrong with the machine you linked to, just remember it still have the same issues as all inkjets have.

Fair enough.

HP used to have the print heads in the cartridges, which is why the things used to cost so much to run, I don't know if they still do that. i would say for anyone who is going to buy a new inkjet printer and use it a fair bit, then get a tank based one, no matter who from. But don't go for ink subscription unless it is really going to save you money.  For the most part I would got for thrid party ink unless you are printing photos to sell or something like that. If so i doubt you would be using a printer that cost a couple of hundred quid or dollars or what ever your currency is

Hello Guys,

I have been looking at reviews of brother and other makes but the reviews for brother laser printers are ok. Not really good.

There is one printer I like from printer land and its Kyocera. It's nearly £1000.

More than £400 which I wanted to spend initially.

I might go for this as I want to keep the printer as long as I can do.

Kyocera ECOSYS MA3500cifx Wireless Bundle A4 Colour Multifunction Laser Printer - 1102Z33NL0W

What are your thoughts on this one.

Do you really need Fax capability in this day and age? It's almost £200 more than the exact same model without fax https://www.printerland.co.uk/product/kyocera-ecosys-ma3500cix-wireless-bundle/152517

Seems quite expensive compared to the brother equivalent but you might make it back in ink costs over 10-15 years. I've never heard of the brand though.

What you have to look at is what you are going to use it for  and how much use it is going to get. If it is for home use and may get used now and again then a cheaper printer like the Brother will be fine, even for small home office, the Brother will be fine. A friend has the model above mine and been using it for over 5 years al;most every day until recently, no problem at all.

As been said above, dio you need fax? it will not be long before it can't be used anyway unless you find some way of connecting the modem to a digital phone line and who use fax these days anyway?

I have never used a Kyocera, they are expensive printers, but then they are made for large office use, where the output can be hundreds of pages a day.
Up to you at the end of the day, but look at the price of toners, they are not cheap, cheap enough per page, but not cheap to buy.

If i was going to replace my brother, I would replace it with another brother, but with a scanner on. it is a good printer, sure it have it faults, but they are minimal, the main fault is the display, it is a awful one line thing. Come to think of it, i think that is the only fault :). Maybe as a laser it is a bit slow compared to others, but fast enough for me.

But yeah, if you have the money to spend on the Kyocera and you are going to make use of it then go for it, but as said, go for the one without the fax.

Not sure what you mean about Brother printers not being good?  All printers have problems at some point.

But you said the reviews of Brother was not good.
Only single sided scanning on that one via the document feeder.,

You need to write down what you want from the printer and how much you want to pay and go from there.

Most Brother printers mare LED ones, so use the same engine more or less, some are faster and may offer different features, but they all use the LED system unless you go for something like the Brother MFC-L8730CDW, which is a laser printer. But ti does cost more.

https://www.printerland.co.uk/product/brother-mfc-l8730cdw/172424

I never even heard of a LED printer until a mate told me he had bought one and printed out some sheets to show me the quality.  I was impressed, my Canon Inkjet printer had gone belly up and I was looking for a Printer. He got a Brother LED printer a few weeks before and as I said above, showed me the quality.
I went online when I got back home to find out more info about this new to me type of printer. I was not interested in priting photos, I had a Canon SELPHY CP1500 Dye-sublimation printer that would do photos, if I really needed to print photos.

I decided to go for the Brother model above his, not a lot of difference, duplex printing and Ethernet, the restr of the machine was more or less the same.

I think it is great quality is fine in best mode, okay in normal mode as well. It is a great printer, not as fast as a laser, but since I don't print a load of sheets at a time normally, it is not a problem. It can do 18 pages per minute once it gets going, that is single side, duplex would take longer. A friend liked mine, and she got the one above mine, just slightly faster and as I said before, been used every day for a few years until recently.

If you want photos, then while the Brother can do photos, you can buy photo paper for lasers, it is not made for photos and as Inkjet does a better job.

The only issues, is the LCD display is rubbish, one line and hard to see, not that it is used much, but the all-in-one printers seem to have a better display and Brother don't seem to be doing drivers for Silicon Macs, they recommend Air-print. Which is fine, but there are a couple of features Air-print don't support, one of them is the secure mode, not that I need to use it.

If I was going for another laser/LED printer I would certainly get another Brother

    • Microsoft will soon allow some users to block Copilot from analyzing their Office files by Usama Jawad Microsoft Purview is a pretty useful data governance, security, and management service that allows customers to gain enhanced visibility and control over their content. It's meant for commercial customers, such as organizations that are storing data at scale. As AI continues to expand and infiltrate every corner of a firm, many are a bit conscious about the technology gaining access to their confidential data. Microsoft is now making a configuration change that will allow such customers to rest easy. Right now, users within an organization have the option to apply Purview sensitivity labels (when available) to secure certain files and label them as such. For example, if you apply the "Confidential" label on an Excel file, the file will be encrypted, and a "confidential" watermark will be applied to it. So, if this file is shared with anyone, they are aware that its access is supposed to be restricted. Up until now, Microsoft was allowing some connected experiences, like its AI services, to analyze files, regardless of their sensitivity label. This is of major concern to most organizations, as a recent example highlighted how confidential emails with data loss prevention (DLP) policies like privacy labels were being uploaded to Copilot for analysis. As such, Microsoft is updating an existing Purview data label sensitivity setting that prevents "some connected experiences that analyze content", from being blocked completely from doing this. The label isn't changing, but the blocking is now being enforced across all connected services (including Copilot and other AI tools), and now extends to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Files with the label applied already will get this enhancement automatically too once it becomes available. Microsoft has urged IT admins to inform their respective helpdesk and compliance teams, update internal documentation, and review sensitivity labels to ensure that they meet their respective compliance needs. This change is tagged as MC1297982 in the Message Center. General availability is scheduled to begin in a phased manner soon and will complete by the end of next month. That said, it is important to note that this only applies to commercial customers who have a license that allows them to use Purview.
