I have a Dell PowerEdge R440. OS: Windows Server 2019 Small Business Server. BIOS: Version 2.22.1, Released 09/12/2024

Whenever I type in my password to log in, I get the message: "The Security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship."

The only thing that was done before this started happening was changing the device name in settings, followed by a restart.

I've tried simply restarting the server, disconnecting from the internet and using a cached login. I've tried to force safe mode by shutting off the computer 3 times while posting. Alt+F4 does nothing; Ctrl+Alt+Del is how you unlock it. I don't have physical boot media.

Does anyone know what else I can do?

You will need to re-join the computer on the domain

Are there other servers in your network? If this is the only server, there is a good chance it is your domain controller and changing the name of that can have significant consequences. If it is not the DC, and just a member server, then just rejoining it like macoman said to reestablish the trust relationship should be all that is needed. If it is the only DC in the network, good chance you would just need to start over with a new forest since recovering from that could be a challenge vs just blasting it away and starting fresh if it is a really small enviornment.

This usually means the server and the domain have lost trust with each other which can happen after a rename. If you can still log in locally, the fix is to remove it from the domain and join it again after a restart. If you can’t log in at all, you’ll need recovery mode or a domain admin to reset the computer account.
