Google has today announced a series of new creator-focused features coming to Android 17, introducing upgrades aimed at improving content creation, editing, and social media sharing on Android devices.
Among the new additions is a feature called Screen Reactions, which allows users to record both their screen and front-facing camera simultaneously. The feature is designed for creating reaction-style videos without requiring separate apps or green-screen setups. The tech giant said Screen Reactions will first roll out to Pixel devices later this summer.
Google also confirmed deeper integration with Meta to improve the Instagram experience on Android. The updates include support for Ultra HDR photo capture and playback, built-in video stabilisation, and Night Sight integration for low-light photography. Furthermore, the company said it has also optimised the capture-to-upload process to improve the quality of photos and videos shared to Instagram from Android devices. Google also announced that Instagram is now fully optimised for Android tablets, allowing users to take advantage of larger displays for editing and viewing content.
In addition, the company introduced new Android-exclusive features for Instagram’s Edits app. These include Smart Enhance, an on-device AI tool that upscales and improves photos and videos with a single tap, and Sound Separation, which identifies and isolates different audio tracks to reduce background noise and improve voice or music clarity. Moreover, Google also announced that Adobe Premiere Pro will soon be available on Android, bringing editing templates and effects designed for creating YouTube Shorts directly from mobile devices.
The company further revealed support for APV (Advanced Professional Video), a professional video format co-developed with Samsung. Google said APV is designed to deliver high-quality video recording while using less storage space. The format is currently supported on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and vivo X300 Ultra, with support for additional flagship devices expected later this year.
The tech giant said the updates are part of its broader effort to improve content creation and social media experiences across the Android ecosystem.
