Batch file

Question

I hope at the right forum for this topic but if i'm not please feel free to move it where it belongs.

I have a lot of cleaning software that i'm using to keep my computer free of spywares or surfing traces and also to remove some unwanted entries.

This is what i'm using:

Window Washer

HD Valet

Trojan Hunter

Spy Sweeper

Norton 2k4

Ad-Aware

SpyBot Search & Destroy

RegScrub

RegFirstAid

Registry Mechanic

what i'm looking for is a batch file that will allow me to have some of them doing their job without me having to open and start one by one.

I don't know if it's faisable but if you have any knowledge on how to do that please let me know or if you want to try a batch file that i can use feel free to send me a private message.

Many thanks for your time again.

Well i must be doing something wrong, this is what i have now in the file:

@ECHO OFF

START C:\Program Files\HDvalet\hdvalet.exe

PAUSE

START C:\Program Files\Webroot\Washer\washer.exe

PAUSE

START C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe

PAUSE

START C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware6\Ad-aware.exe

PAUSE

END

I'm trying to start it up but i have this error message on the screen:

Windows cannot find 'C:\Program'. Make sure you typed the name correctly.......etc...

so now i feel dumb again and i don't know if there's anythin wrong in what i have added.

Any ideas ?

noir,

I replaced Program Files with Progra~1 and it's working only for the first software that i want to start:

@ECHO OFF

START C:\Progra~1\HDValet\hdvalet.exe

START C:\Progra~1\Webroot\Washer\washer.exe

START C:\Progra~1\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe

START C:\Progra~1\Lavasoft\Ad-aware6\Ad-aware.exe

END

HDValet is starting but the other ones are giving me the same error message.

I verified to see where are exactly the .exe files and they are where it's specified in the configuration.

Thanks for your time again

Well as far as i can see the 2 files that are not working are exactly where it is specified, Spy Sweeper is working and it's under Webroot/Spy Sweeper/SpySweeper.exe, so Window Washer is also under Webroot but in the folder Washer/Washer.exe....

For Ad-Aware it's under Lavasoft/Ad-aware6/Ad-aware.exe

I'm a little bit confuse because i was expecting all the programs to start automatically scanning without me having to click on Start or Scan. I don't know if they allow that kind of behavior but i can live with that.

Again if you have more ideas about how to make that work i'll appreciate it and thanks again for your help.

the way i've always had to do it is like this:

@ECHO OFF
CD /D "C:\Program Files\HDValet"
START hdvalet.exe
CD /D "C:\Program Files\Webroot\Washer"
START washer.exe
CD /D "C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper"
START SpySweeper.exe
CD /D "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware6"
START Ad-aware.exe
END

Thanks cpugeniusmv,

I'm going to try that also and see if it's working.

The other options that i have are half working but it's a start and if i can have something that is fully working including the scanning that starts automatically i'll be the happiest man on earth :)

    • Maybe you don't realize this...but everything you said agreed with me. Yes, many tech outlets reported on Ryzen 9000 issues prior to 24H2, which I already addressed, and as I already said, that issue only existed for a few short months. Ryzen 9000 was released the same quarter of 2024 as 24H2. So again...months, not years. I also already said 24H2 showed some minor improvements on older Ryzen CPU. The article you posted agrees with me, and even says the improvements were only 3-5%, which is even more harsh a statement than what I said. If you want to fuss on the 3-5% numbers, then yes, I will grant you that was an issue for an extended amount of time. In my opinion, that is such a small amount it isn't worth fussing over, but you are welcome to a different option. However, if that was your point, then you didn't make that point in good faith, because you highlighted Ryzen 9000 so much, which had a FAR bigger and FAR shorter issue, it's really a very different conversation.
    • The vast majority of users do not care which iOS version they're using. They don't even know or bother updating to the latest version, unless they see the prompt. The version numbers is more for the power users and I don't think Apple renamed their OS for them.
    • No operating system works well with programs that modify its interface. There will always be bugs, whether it's MacOS or Linux. Windows too, you'll only suffer from bugs using this crap software.
