Because Windows sucks! No just kiddin', I think it has to do with that Microsoft needs to make those programs attractive for the Mac users. MSN Messenger is almost a part of Windows XP so they don't need to worry that Windows User won't use their programs.

The second thing is, Mac OS X has a 128x128 icon standard, Windows XP doesn't have that, and Mac OS X programs are Mac OS X ONLY so you can make a program that fully uses the new system. Windows programs on the other hand need to run not only on Windows XP (that supports 32-bit alpha blending icons) but also on Windows 98, ME and 2000 (that don't support transparancy and 32-bit icons).

That's what I think ;)

sexy icons... and windows users don't worry, I am sure someone would make a skin out of those icons.

btw can someone give me a screenshot of the login window and the contact list window of mac msn ?

oh and if someone could give me a screenshot of the sign in animation that would be great

  • 3 weeks later...

wish some one would make a OSX msn skin for the windows MSN,

as i have a mac themed desktop. and woud like my messenger to have the new OSX skin.

why do microsoft allways make office etc. look better on a MAC

they could reduce the size of the icons for windows apps. MAC ones look better.

    • How backwards can you have it? Yes, Linux was gaining because of Linux handhelds and the push for gaming compatibility, but that's not desktop users, it barely converts anyone who owns a SteamDeck, though it helps for those who wanted to do it, but anyways, the AI+RAM debacle helped Linux because people can't easily upgrade their PCs easily and many hate AI so they'd be incentivized to try Linux.
    • 🤦🏻‍♂️ No, expected because 10 EOL
    • Dude, it's a .reg away from a permanent modification. If you're a power user, look it up and keep the .reg and stop being a crybaby expecting MS to include customization for everything on a generalist OS. The default is what's the best UX for the majority of the userbase, non techie people.
