Why is it called Cheese Cake?

Weird coincidence. And just to bug silly_walk...

Got a nice Sainsburys Strawberry Cheesecake out of the freezer earlier today ready to eat for my pudding after dinner this evening :)

pumpkin pie kind of negates the pie has pastry on top, and the pie is usually gooey arguments :p

right but pumpkin pie still has a pastry crust..which is what makes it pie and not cake. cheesecake vice versa :)

Pie OFTEN has a pastry crust. Not always. Same for goes for the gooey arguement. No one said it was scientific law...just common. :)
