Well that's because it is bright, so it does hurt your eyes if you're not used to bright Visual Styles and/or Wallpapers.

See that menu thing is actually a toolbar where I launch all my programs. The Windows logo alone is the start button.

But to answer your question, that font looks like a variant of Verdana ;). Its the standard toolbar font in Windows Classic (whatever that may be ;).)

Like the Che desktop :punk:. However, you might want to apply a blur filter to make it look a little smoother.
