java and 3rd party browsers

Question

Hi

ever since I first tried IE alternative browsers, I have had problems with java, the issue was I was using msjava fine in IE and MYIE2 but my alternative browser didnt accept msjava so I installed the sun version, now I noticed java apps dont work so well in the other browser's so I tried to use java in IE again and it doesnt work, IE just says java is not installed. Now if I uninstall sun java there is still no java its as if msjava has vanished, is there anywhere I can redownload msjava or is it gone completely? or is there a way to get sun java to work in IE?

the other browsers I have been trying are firefox and opera7.

yes its enabled in the IE options.

mxxcon the original java was msjava with XP SP1 not SP1a, then I installed the latest sun java to get java working in the other browser's at this point java was broken in IE and MYIE2 (based on IE) I then decided I wanted to use java in IE again becase java implementation in the other browsers is poor but I cant get it to work it is simply broken and IE wont detect a java installation, it pops up a window to download java component, I click yes then the page that loads says java is installed but the applets dont work. the MS page points to sun java so it seems MS have removed msjava for download which is a shame.

I'm pointing out that of course MS Java is going to work perfectly with MS products, and its a bit naive to hope that MS is going to go out of their way to make their implementation of Java play nice with third party applications, nor would they want their applications to play nice with third party implementations of Java.

Please tell me you didn't believe that Microsoft was the only place to download the VM installer...? Do any of these links have a VM installer?

Sun's java doesn't work with some websites because those websites are not using Java correctly, not the other way around.

Lots of sites are still coding java for MS ancient java vm, it is not sun's fault or anyone elses but those websites. It's the same issue with websites that don't show up properly in mozilla, it's not because mozilla is borken but 9 times outta 10 the website is broken(i.e. it was coded just for internet explorer).

Bottom line is if a website doesn't work with Sun's Java than the website is doing it wrong. Hopefully these sites will start to get away from coding thier webpages just for IE, and start to move towards coding for the actual standards so they'll work in all the browsers.

Chrysalis - he shouldn't have called you stupid but MS java works fine in MYIE2 because myIE2 is basically a frontend for Internet Explorer, so of course MS Java will work in MYIE2 because it's the same thing as IE.

well sorry if I assumed the place to get msjava from was ms themselves, I know msjava is old and sites are been written specifically for it but thats not my fault, I just want the java that works best, I had a ton of problems with sun java and the other browsers, and for some reason sun java refused to work in IE altogether so I decided to dump sun altogether and revert back.

    • Google Workspace brings 10 free AI features for nonprofit organizations by Aditya Tiwari Google has announced several updates for nonprofit and charitable organizations that use its products and services. For starters, the search giant is expanding the Google for Nonprofits program to more than 100 countries globally. Google for Nonprofits has been around for over a decade, offering products and services to eligible nonprofits for free or at discounted rates. One of its verticals is Workspace for Nonprofits, a paid tier that provides nonprofits with no-cost access to Gmail, Calendar, Meet, and its AI apps, such as Gemini and NotebookLM. Google is bringing ten new AI features to the Workspace for Nonprofits tier as part of its new updates. The company surveyed over 9,000 nonprofit organizations earlier this year and said that about nine out of ten nonprofits reported positive productivity gains when using AI apps and features. However, only one out of five reported that at least half of their organization uses AI. That said, these are the new features coming to Workspace for Nonprofits without paying any money: Gems Audio Overviews in Gemini app Image generation with people in Gemini app Canvas and quizzes in Gemini app Deep Research in Gemini app Google Vids with custom video clips powered by Veo 2 Two-way conversations with Gemini Live NotebookLM with Summaries, Audio Overviews (50+ languages and length adjustment) and Q&A Mind Maps in NotebookLM Discover Sources in NotebookLM Most of these features are available in other Workspace plans intended for regular businesses. Google's Nonprofits tier supports up to 2,000 employees or volunteers at $0/user/month, who can have professional email addresses, take part in 150-participant video meetings, and share a pooled cloud storage capacity of 1TB. Additionally, nonprofits can also place ads in Google Maps to connect with people at a local level. The company said that it's "expanding Ad Grants to run on eligible Google Maps placements in Performance Max campaigns free of charge." These ads in Google Maps can appear above, below or beside search results.
