Web-Site Help

Question

Ok, I have to re-design my terrible Graphic Design website for my latest class project. Sounds fun right? Well, to a point. We apparently have to make it at or under 150k though. I want to make it look good but I'm kind of stuck for ideas on how to make a site effective and look good while being so small. Guess that streaming audio file isn't going to happen :p

Ideas? Anything is helpful.

Ok, now let me get something straight this is presumably for a graphic design class, which gives you a diploma, and yet you can't come up with anything on your own? You're hired! This is like walking into a clients completely unprepared and telling THEM to design the site for you. I understand you want ideas and all, but lets face it this is for school, school gives you your diploma. School doesn't give NEOWIN the diploma, they give YOU the diploma. They want to see YOUR ideas.

I understand that you're just looking for help, but I'm tired of posts where people ask for help on pay sites, or sites other than their personal one.

Now on that note, try CSS. Thats all I'll say.

I plan on using CSS. I was asking for tips on creating a site that still had good ideas that kept the size down. I wasn't asking for you or anyone else to re-create the site for me, just tips. Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my first explanation. I was expecting something along the lines of "...try doing 'this' it looks really cool for 'such and such' and keeps sizing down"

If that is too much to ask, I appologize, but I'll photocopy my diploma when I get it and e-mail it to you if you feel better that way.

Well, look at usability guidelines.

For graphics, but compare the compression ration. gifs are better for greyscale, jpegs for collar, and pngs are all around good choice.

Keep your images 'small'. Make sure the pixel ratio is much less then 640x480.

Use CSS.

Write your HTML by hand. Or use an editor and modify it. Most HTML editors add a lot of wasted garbage. But if you do use word just open up notepad and remove the garbage it has.

    • Not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to add ray tracing to games that don't support it or something lol.
    • Looks less buggy than FC25. I still don't understand how they managed to release that game.
    • Yes, Command Palette, that's what I meant, thank you.
    • PowerToys Run has already been replaced with Command Palette. Run is still functional, but it's just a matter of time before Microsoft disables it. Raycast can do much more though, and with its plugins much, much, much more...
