iTunes vs Winamp

Which one do you prefer, and why?

I like both. iTunes with its sound enhancer sounds nice.

But I use Winamp 5.02 with classic skin since its so small and fast. iTunes takes like 10 seconds to load as opposed to Winamp loading in less then 2 on my PII 400.

Not to mention, Winamp 5.02 with classic skin uses like 2-3megs with 2-3% CPU time when minimized, where as iTunes uses about 11-12megs and about 14-16% CPU time.

Both of them have their own advantages

Advantages

iTunes-able to burn music to CD and can access music store

Winamp-looks cooler than iTunes and have more function, buttons :p

I use Winamp to listen to music because because it loads faster and doesn't have useless functions. I only use iTunes to listen to internet radio and listen to shared msuic and download songs to my ipod.

i really like winamp but since i cant get my iTunes songs to play on it looks like im stuck with iTunes

There's a plugin on WinAmp's site so that you can listen to songs bought with iTunes.

well, i have been using winamp since i lost all my mp3s in my harddisk crash.

so ive been re-ripping with vbr and using winamp. but im gonna install itunes again. but this time, im not gonna let it change my filenames and stuff.

but its winamp mostly.

I've uninstalled winamp long long time ago.. I'm using iTunes btw... :p It's simply... irresistible...

iTunes on the pc still doesn't "feel" the same as it does in osx, and it does use quite alot of system resources compared to itunes (imo), Winamp you can minimize to the tray, has so many darn skins so there is something for everyone. Nice media library, a much better internet radio selection, and inet tv now? not bad for watching simpsons lol.

after years of using winamp i switched over to itunes. i just think it works a lot better.

Both use about the same amount of ram and cpu time on my machine....I just like iTunes because I can download music legally. I also like it's playlist features...but I do like Winamp an awful lot....

Well i've always used Winamp.. skipped out WA3 cause it stunk, and have gone from 2.8 -> 5.0 and its better than ever.

But I like iTunes for managing my iPod and its also really good for ripping music CD's..

So I should say I like Winamp more BUT iTunes is still bloody good for a freebie :)

I use iTunes because I'm on a Mac but I never really liked Winamp even when I was on a PC. The only thing great about it is the fact that it doesn't use a lot of resources. It works great on older computers. These days where people have tons of audio files you need something that has better orginization and WinAmp doesn't cut it.

i used winamp2 then 3 then wmp9 then itunes for meh ipod. then formatted itunes played up on adding my tracks with lots of folders

now using winamp 5

I don't use iTunes, because I don't buy music online. Plus, it's got an interface like kazaa, just for playing music. WinAmp!!!!!!!!!!!
