iTunes vs Winamp

whatever helps you sleep at night...

I don't know why big words bother you, must be an inferiority complex of some sort...

your lame attempt at an insult has been noted. when you go through puberty, your balls drop, and you can come up with a decent insult, please contact me. until then, shh.

i also like itunes because it does network streaming... i can turn on my computer, start itunes, and go to work on another computer. kind of nice when you're waiting for something to finish loading, installing, or (yes, it still happens on a 3mbps connection) downloading.

They're both good  I prefer iTunes when I want to play songs off my pod though. Although when I'm really in a crunch for resources I'll switch over to Winamp.

/edit And use the iPod plugin for winamp to play tunes of my iPod ;). But Winamp doesn't have the ability to even make play lists on your iPod... :(

The funny thing is, he's older than you and probably knows more about this topic than you do...but I'll let nspeds take it from here. :D

Edit: You consider yourself mature too, but still refer to yourself as 1337.

actually, he called me "733t", which is teet. either way, what's wrong with being 1337? are you mad at me because you aren't? :p

and i don't care if he's older than me or not... when you try to insult someone by using a big word and then saying go check dictionary.com, that's called being a moron. if you want to insult someone, insult someone. don't run off to check the word of the day on your daily calendar to look intelligent.

winamp... itunes is just too limited for me. no equalizer, not really much of anything. (or maybe i haven't used it enough?)

there is EQ i use it cause it goes perfectly with my ipod.

edit: I would have to agree it can be bloaty and such but i believe its because of support for the ipod.

thanks for all relevant feedback..

it looks like im sticking with winamp for now, the 3 main reasons for that are:

- Global hotkeys

- Can be minimized to tray

- Less cpu/ram usage

Actually, iTunes can be minimized to the tray. Someone created a plugin for it so you can. It was posted on here months ago. Sorry, but i CBA to find it for you.

Winamp 5! It plays movies too! It doesn't take forever to start up, multiple instances, has a great avs (itunes default avs blows), the small version of it fits really conveniently at the top of the browser window -itunes = not, umm, these may have been said but I must reiterate. The only cool features about itunes are the smart playlists, rating features, and # of times played feature. Those features aren't even needed, they are just convenient/minor luxuries.

Oh, and winamp 5 has a really nice library feature now, and just like iTunes, it is only as effective as your own mp3 tagging ability. So, except for the features above, there is nothing major that winamp doesn't have that iTunes have... in fact winamp has more.

Winamp 5 wins.

Smart Playlists are in Winamp too  As is most played.

The only reason I prefer iTunes library is because it sorts by genre first, something that's a pain to do in Winamp. Plus it shows you the album cover, which is cool.

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package.
