Compatibility. I desirably want a good im that uses most major services. i did use trillian but since it hasn't been updated in so long. than gui and pretty stuff next. of course nothing looking like windows 98ish is impressive but compatibility is high for me.

i shall beta test.

I don't use MSN Messenger for its name. I use it for its features and because other people use it.

I'm just saying iMessenger sounds like iNSTANT Messenger which is copyrighted by AOL they own the whole IM they have a patent, so becareful.

Honestly the last thing I need is another IM Program.. can't you make a plugin for one of our already existing IM Apps.

hmmm i got all this

Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, AIM, XFIRE....ugh.. now another. :s

I don't use Trillian because I enjoy using the multimedia features of each application serperately.

the man has got a strong point there, why not just make a plugin for say miranda or something, which it'l be better since i already use it :p . Or you can go ahead an keep making the nMessenger as you said, hopefully many people will use. Good luck with it btw....

rotflmgdfao - yeah, all would be nice, but priorities:

1) interoperability between different messaging systems

2) Ability to load more than one instance of each type (I have 2 ICQ accounts, 1 yahoo, 1 AIM, 3 Messenger accounts, etc...)

3) very low resource consumption - in other words, write is in Assembly! (lol - all praise Steve Gibson)

New Update:

iMessenger is currently being coded by me and some people from my school, problem I am having is i need more programmers, And some more graphic designs if you are interested in any of this i am hosting a Meeting tonight on MSN messenger, All coders and artists were calling for you :D

Why is this called iMessenger, it's like something made by Apple.  How about calling it NeoIM or something.

dL

Sigh... Not Everything that has a "I" at the start has to do with apple and if apple dont like the sound of the messenger then we will simply change it. Plus "I" is A letter and Apple cant copyright a letter someone mentioned this before..

  ;)

What will be the point of it? I can really see the attraction if its just for neowinians so you can just add people by neowin username etc.

I'm slightly worried that "Msn, Yahoo,Aim,Icq..Compatibility" is on that list ^ What would be the point in having neoIM at all if it was compatible?

Why do we need another Messenger program??? Using the chat will bring more and more people to the site.. The chat is just like a messenger but better.... The chat just needs to be known to the whole neowin community...

Down with Neowin messenger!!!

Well :p to you hahahaha :D

News update on iMessenger

I am Adding a bit of Flash to it. :ninja: This Might Spice up the messenger you currently use, EG: Msn Messenger that uses The XML style. The Flash Will Probibly be the shell but i am not so sure for now i have tested it and it looks very nice. LE3 is Still Doing the Gui and i am still writing up the Program. But Remember The First Realese Will be In pure html then we convert to a full EXE :D

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
