has any mods, or anyone got any thoughts of the ideas I wrote on the last page about the login idea's. If you want to make this work, feedback will be appriciated ;)

Please tell me what to do about my error. So I can see it and give my suggestions/feedback.

Where are the release notes?

Why do you have to ask for every single little thing. The information is all here and I explained EXACTLY what the stage was of the program and what would work and what wouldnt

I know noone probably reads this section, but I really need some guidance with this - so I will post it again.

Basically there are two ways we can go about this project, and the way we "log in". Each has their own advantages and disadvantages.

1. The Messenger program could log in with any name the user supplies, and isn't linked with a password related to neowin.net or any password at all. The advantage is that anyone could log in even if they are not a member - as you are probably thinking now this is also a major disadvantage. For instance one day I could log in as "StaticFish"and the next as "Blaise" or even "Neobond!" as nothing will be linked. Obviously this will probably be a bad idea but we will see

2. I am much more keen on the second way we could do it, but it will be a lot trickier and will involve more people, to work together. If we could somehow bind the program in with the main database, so that your personal neowin.net username and password works with Neowin Messenger. This opens up features that have been discussed early such as PM integration. There are of course limitations with the Invision Power Board, but the connections is the main point.

This is now almost a fully functional login box. To make it 100% working, the above stuff needs to be worked out

I would perfer this option, but I know that it requires a lot more work and it's an security issue. If you could just get the messenger to work (option 1 or option 2) that itself would be a great step forward. Keep up the good work!! :)

I agree.I like the2nd option better but any option is fine. I just ant it to work. The 2nd option would be better cause then Guests won't be able to log on.
