clonk
I happened to find a free version of McAfee Personal Firewall, the newest version, and I thought I would share it with Neowin. It talks about being optimized for AOL on the page in the link below, but it works fine with any connection. It never asks to upgrade to the full version, unless you click on a disabled feature. And it is a very small download as well, only 2.17 MB. http://us.mcafee.com/firewallexpress/download.asp?cid=7294 Here is the link to the full version, so you can see what the program is like: http://us.mcafee.com/root/package.asp?pkgid=103&cid=9902 Here is a screenshot of the interface. Neoranga
Your AOL email address has been verified and you can now download your copy of McAfee Personal Firewall Express by clicking the "Download" button: I don't think that just anyone has the liscense to download this, as it looks to be inteded for AOL Customers only. But I could be wrong. I got something similar to this when I had Comcast Cable Internet a year ago. It was not a bad little firewall, however I still prefer my NAT with ZA Pro as backup. mipra
Does norton offer a free firewall? Hmm..if u want to talk about nice firewall software....go with Sygate. Trust me..I have tried every single one of them and Sygate is a balance between performance and protection. Neoranga
Zone Alarm Pro for me, been using it for years and hasn't failed me once. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/164038-mcafee-personal-firewall-express/#findComment-2067449 Share on other sites
CatsHighfiveMe
I used it once... but it messed up my icq. ICQ connected, and simply disconnected after a radom amount of time... odd. So, I uninstalled it again. :-) But it was pretty impressive, I liked the log and the hackerwatch.org integration. k0zy Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/164038-mcafee-personal-firewall-express/#findComment-2067465 Share on other sites
Neoranga
Yeah, I had a similar problem with Trillian. But after setting it to allow Trillian to access certain ports the problem was solved. Also, I think it was a few patches ago they solved alot of connectivity issues with IM clients.
