[newb question] how do i optimize bandwidth?

Recommended Posts

hi, i have a cross over cable from my 2nd network card on my comp to my laptop, they connect at 100 mbps, and i even manually set it to 100 mbps full duplex in the device manager settings thing... for both laptop and comp, when i FIRST transfered something when i first hooked them up, i had about 60% (of 100 mbps), but now it doesn't seem to ever pass 50% (of 100 mbps), and slowly drops to 25%

i don't understand what's going on, is there any way to speed this up a little...?

Buy a gigabit switch :D

One thing you have to remember is that 100 mbps is 100 megaBITS per second, not mega bytes. There is 1024 bits in a byte, so do that math.
