anyone have open up the memory expansion slot? as my warranty still valid, i dare not to open it up. i hav confirm acer travelmate only can upgrade 1 slot as another 1 is put inside b4 manufactured, so how many slots of memory we can upgrade from acer aspire? i heard some acer site said both of them can be upgrade from the cover bottom but i need confirmation from those who have open up the memory slot cover. thanks.

I used my T610 to surf internet through bluetooth with my acer aspire without charges from MAXIS through GPRS, only charges from my internet service provider STREAMYX. Soong!

Two. One by open the flap at the underside and the other one with taking the whole piece a part :D

I sum up what my Acer 2001WLMi has:

-Centrino 1.4GHz

-DVD-RW (CD-R/W, DVD-RAM/ROM, DVD-R/W)

-15 Zoll WXGA

-512 MB RAM, PC2700 333MHz

-60GB HDD

-Radeon Mobility 9200

-WLAN (I use Intel drivers, so it's called: Pro/Wireless LAN 2100 3B, think it's 802.11b)

Well XP Home and some software was with it.

At the underisde it says Aspire 2000 CL32, but i looks that my config is not available anymore. I am living in Germany and the 2010 and 2012 are being sold from now on.

For the TravelMate you just have to remove the keyboard. One memoryslot is under the keyboard and one on the bottomside of the notebook.

Hi, i have a Acer Aspire 2001 laptop. im trying to reinstall everything as its being a bit sluggish. but i have lost my recovery disks. could anyone in the UK do me a huge favour and be able to copy and post me the disks. you would save me so much hassle and a back to normal computer. i will pay you for postage and cd cost and a little extra for your help. cheers

Have you noticed that this laptop is very like the HP zt3000? I think they both get the frame from Compal.

Yep, they both use the Compal motherboard. IMO they dont look very similar, as they both have different features. The only similar feature they seem to share are the silver highlights around the top of the case.

I'm sure that they use the same frame. If you ever get the chance, compare it to a zt3000 in person: the cd-rom, ports in the back, pcmcia, speakers, battery, hard drive and lock thingies are all in the same place. Indeed they don't look very similar at first glance, but if you look closer, they are almost identical (save for the styling and lcd)

The Arcade is actually a version of Linux that is just dedicated to running the Arcade. The only way to get it to work is if you do a factory restore from the system restore CD's.

As for it being similar to the zt3000, they probably use the same mainboard made by compal (and since everthing is integrated onboard, it does not leave much room for modifications)

Im getting my 2026WLMi this week, this review has increased my confidence in my purchase :p :D The linux arcade thing sounds great for quickly watching a DVD on the go :) Someone in my class has the 2023 and it does indeed look good "in the flesh"

The notebook computer has a nice design.

I remember this notebook. I recall that it had a very beautiful design, was one of the first fitted with a subwoofer and that it had very good performance. The downside to this notebook was that the two touchpad buttons were very hard to press. I wanted this notebook, especially when the graphics card was updated from the ATi Mobility Radeon 9200 to the ATi Mobility Radeon 9700.

The problem was I had already bought my notebook only a week before the release of the new model :pinch: :( . Oh well  .

Just an update: although the HD did die a couple of months ago, it still works perfectly as it did the first day. The battery is down to 65% of original capacity according to Ubuntu, but that is to be expected (I am surprised the battery still works at all, let alone 1/1.5 hours). Probably will keep it until it dies one day, as all I use it for is mostly surfing the web (was used as a desktop replacement until 2006).

    • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
