most of the people that took part in the discussion/flame war/whatever think that the autor of this thread posted photoshopped (eg. edited) screenshots of a Longhorn alpha/beta and he made us believe that this, what he shows off, is actually a Windows XP theme he is working on. he promised several releases and gave several release dates but never delivered anything.

I think, this thread can be labeled "dead" or, even better: "$hit never dies - this thread will stink forever"

@mods: is '$hit' a language filter workaround? if it is so, please edit...

I'm starting to get sick of this thread. I agree with everybody who says is should be removed. If Digital Freedom were ever to finish this VS, I think it would be listed in the releases section. It would appear the whole thing is a huge discussion on whether or not this is a visual style or not... so it's useless.

DELETE IT!

Just don't read this thread anymore, stop whining...

I have a new idea.

I will be contacting Windows X, KoL, and stefanka and see if they can collabrate with each other and make a XP theme based on the screenshots. If I'm not wrong, the theme is based on the windows in the "Longhorn" PDC video. I showed the key frames below. The transparency can be added by a third-party program like Glass2K or WinFX. However, I think it will look good without transparency too. I may be creating a new thread for this, as this thread as been filled with so much hatred and flames.

I think I will foget about contacting KoL and stefanka, after all. However, I think I will continue to keep in touch with Windows X on this.

Back to the topic: Windows X, can you make the caption bar appear smooth and flat, just like in the video grabs and the earlier mockups? It could look closer that way.

What are you talking about?? Kol made a whole set of Longhorn themes. You will never get anything near the mockups on the first page with Windows XP...

sweet, i have always loved that video and that theme. Windows x, and akr, if u do this, will u make the seperators in the toolbar transparent so one can move the fav and search icons to the right while the back and forward are on the left like in longhorn? also windows x, are your themes in the new trans pack 6 already like this with the transparent seperators? if not will they be in pack 7? (No one replied to my questions in the lhtrans pack 6 thread so i thought i would mention it here since its kinda on topic, lol) hope u guys pull this off cause its a sweet theme!

In which theme? Please specify.

From my knowledge, making fav and search on right can be done by make all buttons except things we want in shell32.dll transparent and that's unacceptable for me. About theme, yes. It'll be included in LTP7 which is much smaller than previous version.

Windows X, I was talking about the one in this screenshot: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...st&id=584378129

Notice that there's some 3D "bumps" on the titlebar? If it looked completely flat, it would look closer to the one in the mockup on the first page and the windows in the "Longhorn" video.

If you mean that, how about the first one? Or you likr darker ones like second shot?

    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.

    • Hello, I have used a few TEAM Group SSDs, USB flash drives, and Micro SDXC cards in the past. They all seemed to work fine. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
