Accessing NTFS partitions (Linux, Fedora)

Recommended Posts

As I understood from other forums, NTFS module isn't enabled (or whatever), which is pretty lame imho. Anyways, here is the only thing I found about it, tell me if it works for you (didn't work on my installation):

As stated earlier, RedHat/Fedora doesn't default to NTFS support. (It's only needed for dual boot on systems with Windows NTFS drives. Users who only boot Linux don't need it.)

Anyhow, there are many RPMs to enable this for you on the released Fedora Core 1.

In Fedora Core 2 beta releases, you are a bit more on your own. (unless you have time to play and learn, I would not recommend a pre-release to a noob). Not sure exactly, but you should have (are be able to add from your CDs) your kernel source and tools to select options grpahically. I would do an "Add packages" from the Fedora menus, and select items dealing with the Kernel Development.

Once you install and run the kernel configure tools, you should just be able to clickety-click your way to NTFS support in the kernel. ;)
