Dell Dimension XPS

YUK... nothing like a custom built.  .. just take a look at that ram, its not even performance ram.  ... and what kind of mobo is that?... doenst look like a nice one, just a plain half decent mobo.

:sigh: why does everything have to turn in to a build-your-own debate??

This is the most high-end desktop machine offered by DELL for gaming or they give more options to add something in it? nice review (Y)

When I purchased mine, it was nearly top of the line....

There are a few more upgrades available now:

3.4 GHz P4 EE, 4 GB DDR Ram, etc. ;)

its simple... how much money did you spend for your XPS?  ... them I'll build mine with much less than that.

Less than 3000 USD for the system including the Dell 2001FP LCD, speakers, etc.

I looked around on newegg and tiger direct before purchasing and I highly doubt you could build a comparable system for less..... :o

Its like silly_walk said though, to each his own... ;)

exactly the monitor i am looking for. i will order the speakers, keyboard and mouse not from dell though.

Keyboard & Mouse: Wireless Optical Desktop Elite Keyboard and Mouse

Speakers: The one's Dazzla has, need to PM him about that later.

I have that exact same keyboard and mouse, and they are wonderful....

My old Logitech MX700 cannot even compare in my opinion... ;)

I have an Alienware Area51 :alien: that I received in March, and when I saw the inside of the XPS I was so glad I bought Alienware. There isn't a cable in my computer that isn't secured right up agaist a wall or behind bay racks. I ran the computer with the access wall removed to check the air flow generated by the 2 front fans and the 2 rear fans, and the flow was suprisingly strong because it had a direct route and wasn't obstructed.

The 8 fans in or on my alienware do generate a little bit of noise, but it's not noticable when playing a game or doing anything with any sustainded music.

For low priced anybody PCs, go Dell, but for a performing YOU PC, get abducted by Alienware :alien:.

all you people saying you can build your own PC for less money than buying a premade one. please show me a write up on how you did it, because i would love to see it. the fact is that these producers can buy products at such high quantities that they can afford to sell a whole product for less money.

i will be getting a new PC shortly, and as much as i would like to build my own, the prices of the Dell, HP, Emachines, etc... are just too low to beat.

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.
